Early call as the player most likely for the Dees to pick with pick “5”.

Langford’s dominance had been flying under the radar before the national championships, and it continued on the national stage for Vic Country. The strong 190cm midfielder was joint winner of the Larke Medal after an outstanding campaign, averaging 26 disposals, eight score involvements, six clearances, six marks and 130 SuperCoach points. Langford’s contested ball-winning, penetrating left boot, overhead marking and forward half impact stood out throughout a well-rounded championships where he broke games open on a consistent basis. Langford doesn’t need a lot of the ball to have a big say on a game, helping turn the tide for Vic Country in their final game against Vic Metro with a big pack mark and goal. The Mount Martha product’s form in the Coates Talent League has been emphatic, kicking a goal or more in every game and falling below 130 SuperCoach points just once in his 11 matches. He is averaging a formidable 152 per game at that level along with 25 disposals, five clearances, six tackles and has also kicked 14 goals.

Have you seen much of him @spirit of norm smith? I remember his lack of pace/athleticism was what was keeping him out of the top 10 predictions before he put some good form together. 
Same could be said of Reid.

He might not have Pendles’ class or Bont’s boot but he’s in the same height and strength and has plenty of penetration on his left foot. A better overhead mark than Pendles and maybe even better overhead for his age than Bont.

Is he a great athlete - probably not. Is he the most precise with his skills no. But he racks the ball up, dominates at stoppages and creates a lot of scores.

To me he’s the pick 1 aside from Ashcroft.

I really liked his vfl game. Because he did find it a bit hot early. But he started to find more space and make some really good inside 50 kicks as well as show his ability to break from packs and cut through traffic.

Interesting ‘highlights’ package. He moves well and is a great size, but most of his disposals were junk bombs or misdirected kicks inside 50, other than one. So, I guess he’ll fit right in

One bad bomb to begin with. 4 of the other 5 inside 50 kicks shown hit the forwards in the hands. 

I’ll take 4 out of 6. 

Cal had him at no.3 in his last phantom draft. Reasonable left footer which is a point of difference, a solid metres gained guy. Worth trading up for? No idea. 

Would add another dimension to our bomb it long into the forward line game plan. We need a serious clearance specialist however.

I also agree North might be open to slide. But not too far as Trainor is highly rated. Would we offer something to trade up for p2?

I'd be very happy with Smillie. He's huge and going to be a gun.

That is a very nice highlights package.

 

There's a lot of Bont in this particular game. Strong contested marks, floating deep to kick goals and then getting in done and bursting from clearance and hitting targets by hand and foot.

This 190cm clearance beast has great appeal to me and looks the perfect man to fill a possible void we might have coming up in the club’s midfield.

One major advantage is that he’s from the Dandenong Stingrays so that any travel to Casey Fields is unlikely to be a chore for him or any social media influencer partner that he might connect with at some time in the future.

If he's there at pick 5, then we take him. We need to build our next premiership midfield, and he'd be a key part of it for the next decade.

Finals week 1 

Stingrays won by 5 goals 

Harvey Langford.  Best on ground again.  32 possessions.  15 kicks.  17 handballs. 5 marks. 4 tackles. 2 goals. Kicked the first goal of the game. Kicked first goal in the last quarter.  He’s actually playing so well, he may actually shoot up to the #1 pick.

Errol? Really? I mean they're both left footers and use the ball well but can't see much more comparison. Little 1.77m Errol can't take grabs like this big kid. If Langford has or can develop the motor Errol has he'll be and outright star.

FWIW I think he goes before our pick. Supports Richmond apparently, the silly boy. Could see him bolting to the top if he keeps up this form heading into draft.
