So…

I know we expect him to play and perform in the last few weeks, but should he be playing? What happens if he cops a significant injury?

Also, if an agreement can’t be reached with the Crom or the Pear, will he be amenable to staying on at MFC or will he retire?

Maybe because no deal has been finalised, so he plays. If no deal I reckon he stays and makes other arrangements for his family. The money is too good to forgo especially with a new baby.

Crom the likely destination according to Jay Clark on Triple M

Suspect we'll probably get our McAdam pick back, must've been fate

Seems likely... would be pretty poor form from Adelaide to play hardball when a 2nd round pick is fair compensation

Sounds about right

Langdon was traded from Freo for a mid second rounder and a future second but he was five odd years younger

What we as fans want isn’t what matters. What matters is that the family wanted to make it public at a time chosen by them, not by someone who took the liberty to blab.

At least tell us the leaker isn't a player 😮‍💨

I'd be furious if it was a teammate, I doubt it btw.

I don’t know who leaked Nibs’ news. As others on here have said it could be anyone from here to SA since talks have been had. I doubt very much it was a teammate because in the video released today Nibs said when the media got hold of the story and ran with it, he knew he had to talk to his teammates. It sounds like they didn’t know.

Thanks ANB - I know you'll appreciate the opportunity to get games into future kids and be happy to rest. Put your feet up and prepare for your new life.

You will be missed - but we need to expose kids on the list. AMW especially.

Gutted.

The last time i was close to being this upset about a player leaving is when with the wiz left for freo.

Coincidence. Two separate leaks.

It's like a John le Carrè novel

Play a kid in his spot for the final 2 games

Sorry to disappoint but he will certainly be playing these last two games. As he said and Goodwin reiterated, He wants nothing more then to sing the song one more time and will be playing to help us get a win in the next two weeks.

Would love a send off at the MCG where we beat the pies with Nibbler getting stuck into them.

What about ANB + P6 for P4?

From what I’ve read, the best player in the draft might be any of the top 5.

A terrible take.

Sounds like an even draft if we believe everything we read

Reckon that & the need to refresh the list a bit makes taking our first rounder + 2nd rounder + ANB compensation to the draft the most appealing option in my mind

I heard that about being even. Seems that’s true for groups: the top 5. Then the next 10.

Smilie or Jegga Smith might be available at p4.

For our list, this year I’d be going all in for an absolute star if we can get him. Rather than playing a wider hand.

Sam Landesberger from Mid week Tackle just let slip on air the leak on ANB has allegedly come from the playing group.

I heard that too. He actually said it was the leadership group. Sam was very bullish about Melbourne though. He said that aside from our horrible recent trading, our drafting had been second to none.

Well you can rule out ANB, which leaves Gawn, Trac, Lever and Viney. I don’t think I’m missing anyone.

Only Tom Morris could put his own spin on the situation and use it to denigrate our football club. Goody told him is he was at a leadership meeting he would be surprised at the robustness of it. Of course then Morris would twist it around so he could get a scoop. I thought Goody challenged him today and had an answer for every pot shot Morris had at our culture.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
