- if I was a betting man, I would offer no better than even money (ie 50 50) that tracc will ever get back to his best

- seemingly has burned bridges with his teammates (and possibly coach, and almost certainly the footy dept and board).

In short, even leaving aside the impact of him staying when he wants out, there is a very good chance we would not get value from our investment

In that context, it might be prudent  for the dees to take unders. 

We will then have plenty of cash, particularly with gus' salary iff rhe books, to invest in our young guns and money to attract stars from other clubs.

However the media spin this, the MFC has the whip hand here. 

If the relationship is beyond repair we may not have a choice if we want him off the list .

Sickens me that we are talking about an all-time great NS medallist to be in this situation.

I love Trac but I'm more concerned about our future if he stays now.

As far as I'm concerned, some of the foam that people were spewing here at the time was pathetic. Going to ridiculous lengths saying certain substances should be legal etc

If the future becomes untenable for both parties then it is possible by mutual agreement the contract is voided or highly modified to assist both parties to be rid of each other.

l mentioned this in the petracca thread ... its relevant but not sure its a seperate thread ... can't see any conflict of interest ... they both want money it would seem

This is only the half of it, check out who is managing his commercial affairs and branding. As an outsider looking in there are conflicts of interest in every line of management. The whole thing looks like an amateur hour balls up.

For the reasons you identify, I agree Trac is no longer worth the value of his contract (and that's before factoring in his further degradation in value due to destabilising the club).

If he were a committed MFC player, I would wear the loss and support him. As we have with Oliver.

If he truly wants out, then we have an opportunity to balance our books, restore unity and regenerate an aging midfield.

It feels crazy to be writing this but it now seems a trade is best for both parties. My only concern is the ability to get an acceptable deal done.

Which agent is he listening to? 

Even if he decides to force a trade at well below his value he still needs to find a club he wants to go to that has the cap space to take on his contract. Both Pies and Blues would have to trade an elite player out or multiple good players out to fit his contract. Connor Sports would be telling him this.

So maybe he'll need to take a paycut to go to a club of his choice. 

Or go to North. Marvel stadium has great kitchens I hear.

 

All I have to go by right now is this:

- Player signs 7 year extension in 2021

- Player and management would should have been all over potential scenarios and situations

- Club remunerates well at the cost of their own future and potential to bring in other players

- Player asks agent (in this case D'Orazio) if there's any way to break the contract.

 

If that last point is true after the preceding 3 points then said player is a lot stupider than we thought they were.

Ha, A friend divorced his wife and lost similar wealth and money. He was very happy to be rid of her for his “mental health”. From Malvern mansion to South Yarra flat and world travel became his lot. Some people put a dollar value on everything but often wealth becomes a millstone around the neck. I know it can be hard for some to find this comprehensible..

The Age article outlines all the reasons why a trade won't happen. Another club would have to fork out a huge percentage of their salary cap and picks in order to get Petracca, who has doubts on his physical and mental fitness.

The club and players needs to make sure we can be conciliatory, because the most likely situation is we have to kiss and make up.
