Christ, people on this forum like to have a sook about the media.

We wouldn't have to, if the media acted appropriately and didn't set about damaging our club.

I am unsure if the AFL have a deal with Epworth given its proximity to the G but I cannot remember a case where an AFL player has been taken to a public hospital from a game. Certainly, players land on the ED doorstep if they have an incident at home.

You are correct that the ambo's determine where you go. They know what the wait times are whether a hospital is on bypass and base it on their assessment of the patient's condition and any medical handover. With my last ambulance adventure, the ambos assessed me and asked if I had private insurance and if I have a preference. I suggested the Alfred and thought that wasn't a good idea as it was at capacity and stretched to the limit. They strongly advised a nearby private  hospital which is where I ended up.

The only time I've ever heard it happening was when I heard Sam Newman talk about his kidney injury in the late 60s. They took him into the rooms and left him on a rub down table where they were going to wait until half time to check on him but when they realised how serious it was he was rushed to the Alfred.

But that's the only one I can think of and it was over half a century ago.

He was only taken to the Alfred after his father demanded it.

I wonder if the AFLPA review is what did/didn't happen in the 2nd qtr.  Tracc went back onto the ground at approx the 8-10 min mark.

iirc he was left on till half time approx 20 min without an interchange.  That seems a long stint even if no injury had occurred.   We will never know what additional damage/risk occurred during that 20 min.

The AFLPA would rightly ask questions of doctors/sports science/coach why he had no interchange and no injury/welfare check during that time.

If the doctors (mfc and afl) left it up to Trac to come off that is a lack of care.  He was in no condition to make that decision.  A duty of care suggests they should have brought him to the bench at regular intervals.  Gawn didn't help by telling Trac to 'toughen the **** up' when Trac struggled.  Maxi's own words.

In the post match press conf Goodwin said Trac was given pain relief.

iirc the AFL review concluded the process mfc/afl doctors followed was 'adequate'.   I wonder if the process is written?  Either way I suspect the process is moot on letting a player continue and is left up to medical discretion.  Only guessing but I doubt it allows for player discretion.  Even if it does doctors can't abdicate that responsibility.

The simple question is did the doctors do everything they could to safeguard his well being in those early stages?

An interesting task for the AFLPA.

The report here is that the AFLPA aren't satisfied with the AFL's assessment.

I feel like the bigger report here is why nothing was done about this until the CEO returned after 3 months of leave, in the middle of the season. Fair ball drop from the AFLPA here.

Anyone tried a Petracca Parma?  Good grief.

Just saw that. *Cringe*

Hmmmm... that Petracca Parma (hard cringe) smells a lot like someone's brand is getting a little bit of a boost??

Wonder if that's part of the negotiations behind the scenes to keep him happy?

(sorry, part time sceptic/at the very least full-time critical thinker).

Was just looking at the menu, it’s his bolognese that adds flair to their Parma they say.

$32.90

Do folks realise The Sporting Globe is a club sponsor and it is their ad?

Not sure why folks are complaining as it also promotes the club and God knows we can do with positive promos right now.

The only person to comment that gets the benefits of the promo is @Bitter but optimistic

tbh I cant stomach it; too soon after the debacle.  Whilst it might be a club sponsor it was an email from the club that promotes it.

Bitter knows the value of fried food.

He would fry everything if he could, loves fried ice cream and fried bread and butter pudding.

I see the Petracca Parma logo is in blue, could still be used even if Trac went to another club with a matching colour scheme [runs for the foxhole before the incoming mortars detonate] ... 😁

How you feel is fine.

But when folks ridicule a product or ad simply because it has Trac's name, they are ridiculing him, the club and its sponsor.

The club often allows sponsors to send promotional emails eg New Balance.

My mum once introduced the perplexed Brazilian that owned the milk bar / chippy round the corner from our old house the art of deep frying a meat pie and watering down the tomato sauce with vinegar. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it people.

To be fair, Mother Theresa could promote this Parma and I would still maintain it sounds awful 😂

It’s fine, the AFL senior Doctor was with our Doctor and made the decisions jointly and there were still problems in hospital, which had nothing to do with us and the AFL has ticked off on our handling of the incident.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
