Give me more...

Ed is so laid back he probably had that contract sitting in his bike short pocket for 4 months and forgot all about it.

4 years = less money than say 3 years.
Smart list move to keep cap space to lure free agents etc.

Langdon is only 28. It’s a no brainer to give him 4 years. At worst he will be a very good depth player at 32. Everyone crying about our lack of depth but also don’t want to sign anyone for longer than 2 years.

I will see your depth argument with a Schache and raise it with a Ben Brown

Must be some truth to the rumour doing the rounds that players still have ‘buy in’ with Goody.

GO DEES!

Why are you comparing those two to Langdon?!
Langdon doesn’t have a degenerative knee injury, and he’s a proven premiership wingman.
This is a ridiculous argument.

I am not comparing to Langdon. He deserves 4 years and is a fantastic player. Just the depth argument and not treading carefully when signing players to 4 years. Due diligence is always necessary even if it is for depth.

Signing any player long term for future depth is  fraught with danger and will almost always end up as we are now.

Great news. Four years is well and truly in order. Lingers is not going to lose that military-grade tank of his anytime soon.

Lamby feeling a touch generous with contract lengths or just a refection of the trade market...?

C’mon Ad-skis.

This man is a Benjamin Button clone. Like all marathon men, he will be running 20 kms per game at 32 years old.

Just  like a fine wine, he will get better with age

Huge tank. Not many in the AFL with his stamina levels. Recent form has been very good and deserves an extension.

He’s a strange cat is our Langers. Stays true to himself.

Not everyone will agree but personally I love that he’s not afraid to say what he thinks. All duck no dinner… you tell ‘em, Ed!

He loves that Goody doesn’t yell at the players, unlike Ross Lyon. And he said it publicly 😂🤣😂

Don’t ever change, Ed. You’re fine just the way you are ❤️💙

Well Schache is on a one year deal, and Ben Brown was already on a contract at North which was extended in order to get him to Melbourne.
He won us a flag. It was worth the risk.

If JJ wasn’t OOC for example we could have got more for him in a trade. Instead we got a third round pick compensation.

The club is doomed either way because nobody is ever happy.

You can’t just let people enjoy the great news? Your second paragraph is unnecessary and cannot be rationalised in any way, especially not in a huge re-signing of a much-loved player thread.

Thanks WCW -  he’s a great player  - and person l think ( never met him! )

Could not imagine him in anything else than red and blue. The 4 year contract reflects his professionalism, consistency and the trust that the FD and fans have with him.

He certainly is a great player, Dingo. And a great person, too. His best quality is his authenticity. What you see is what you get with Ed. He’s unpredictable in what he says which makes him always interesting. He’s so chill he’s a heartbeat away from a coma, and nothing ever seems to faze him.

Lucky he has you there WCW for mouth to mouth resuscitation. Just be sure he isn’t breathing before you attempt this act PLEASE.

No matter how crazy I could ever be, Ed’s the last person who’d call out “Security!” Nothing breaks his stride.

PS what if I really and truly believe he’s not breathing (even though he is). Would that be ok?

Ha ha ha. I’m thinking Ed may have a reaction to that, and it’s not an allergic anaphylactic one.

Step back WCW 😳🤩😂😂

This is unreal.

I had almost resigned myself to the thought he was going to quit the game early and go off grid or something. Seems to be that sought of bloke.

One of my favourites- the contract length is fair and well deserved 👏

At the top of my list of dees I'd love to have dinner with.

Good on ya langers.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
