Who will get axed first Voss or Goodwin? 🤔

Who will the Blues & Dees target as a replacement? Longmire, Simpson ... or even Buckley 😁

Hopefully Goodwin and who cares anyone is better !

Viney did 12 centre bounces tonight, out of 22.

Oliver, Langford and Pickett all did more.

Those three should be in the centre bounce, Viney should be there for a lot less than half of them, if at all at this point.

Oliver is there for his clearance work, Pickett has speed and X factor and Langford for his potential and ball use.

Viney simply doesn't have any of those things going for him right now. He's a legend of the club but the coaches aren't doing his longevity any favours by persisting with him in that role.

Anyone who knows me from bigfooty knows I’ve been calling goodwins head since halfway through 2022. That year required strong leadership. They played like drunk millionaires .

The first 10 games disguised a massive issue with clubs attitude and the game plan. That winning start to the season comprised of wins where we played poorly and relied on one burst to kick a score to win as well as 2 games where we couldn’t put away north and WC.

Anyone who looked deeper than just the W/L tally could see there were real issues already.

As usual , [censored] poor leadership at the club meant that the grandfinal hangover was a certainty . Goodwin refused to adapt his game plan and thought it would just happen for them. Delusional

Can’t see Goody staying if we finish bottom 4

We’ll need around about 8/9 wins from the next 19 rounds to not finish bottom 4.

If we lose to west coast or Richmond in the next few rounds then I cannot see that happening. We are so far behind other teams.

What is the point of continuing with goody now, we won’t be playing finals again the team has gone backwards again this year and every year since 2021. I remember vividly when we called time on Daniher everyone was sad but knew it was time with Goodwin I don’t think I will have any sadness just a question of why we didn’t do it sooner. Every year I feel more and more Goodwin got extremely lucky in 2021 that everything just came together and he was just a passenger, good coaches don’t have teams drop off a cliff like this when seemingly all the peaces are there.

We are miles behind . A lot of overrating of our youngsters. Langford and Lindsay are the real deal, clean, thoughtful and reliable with disposal. The rest are cameos at best.

Bowey maintains a consostency, but hes never going to dominate or reach AA leve. Mcvee might as a specialist BP thats about it. Years of wilderness ahead i fear

Even if our top picks all work out our depth just isn’t there once our older players leave or retire, it’s going to be a long and painful 4-5 years at minimum

"We have work to do".

Every week the same comment.

When does it start, you absolute fraud? Look how unfit half our list is.

Taking nothing away from 2021, because we were magnificent, but it is clear as day that we only got it together and won a flag because the players weren't able to freely access the same "temptations" that you can indulge in when you're not in a quarantined hotel.

Yeah I worry that those two could get ruined and become our new versions of Grimes and Trengove.

Anyone see Petracca pissing himself laughing at the centre bounce to start the second quarter?

We're definitely not playing team first desperate footy.

There was some debate over AJ vs Fritsch back a page or two.

I don't think AJ will ever be one of our best but at least he's showing leadership with his contests and second efforts. He works for his team mates and worked really hard again today.

Goodwin never seems to follow through and drop our first tier players for their lack of form, effort and team first competitive attitude.

We might find one or two Neville Jettas on the fringe if we put some solid game time into a few. That doesn't mean running them as sub for two weeks getting splinters in their [censored] then dropping them.

Gawn is now starting to slide and it does my head in to see JVR, our number one forward who seems completely wigged out right now having to play second ruck.

He is completely devoid of confidence.

There's a few out there at the moment that are not busting their guts for their coach or their team mates.

That's unnacceptable

Goodwin's not going anywhere, at least not before his contract is up at the end of 2026.

Get over yourselves. So many bizarre posts, unconnected to reality.

Viney is cooked, game has passed him by, too slow and just hacks the ball forward , when he does get it which isn't enough!

Correct..

So what do we do in the meantime when he was showing this last year? Offer him a [censored] 4 year deal.

Gut the joint starting with Lamb, Goodwin and Griffiths.

I perhaps wasn't as strong calling for Goodwin out in 22 but I flagged a lot of issues at the time too and got my head chopped off. Wasn't hard to see if you really looked.

I didn’t see Petracca laughing but he was very filthy in the 4th quarter. Lots of yelling at players for not running, pointing at opposition getting loose and at the final siren threw his mouthguard into the ground and walked away.

What a bad coaching job last night.

Letting the cats have a spare behind the ball all night is A+ Trump style thinking.

Every time they panned to Goodwin in the box he had a stunned dumb look on his face, not talking to the other assistants, not on the phone, just a blank I have no idea look.

Enjoy the next 19 weeks, cos there is no way Green will have the fortitude to sack him.

Essendrug will end up with pick 3 and we will enter next year with the same boring [censored] game plan, love and learnings.

Played not to lose by 10 goals. Embarrassing gutless coach who couldn't coach a semi attacking game plan if his life depended on it.

I know how to solve things and win a premiership next year -bring back COVID and we play the granny in W.A. ` simple.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
