I'd honestly be very surprised on top of everything else that's going on off field with the review, that they'd actually find the time to be talking to other potential applicants and then coming up with some sort of agreement all behind Goodys back.

Not sure Brad Green is capable of doing this amongst everything else.

So let’s suppose that Pert is as ‘dead in the water’ as you seem to presume based on your interpretation of rumour and intimation from reports; we simply cannot get rid of everyone at one time, and we are spending time replacing board members, a President, a forward line coach and a senior assistant/midfield/gameplay coach, we should be also spending time looking for a tall forward to replace Neitz…

Let’s swap our coach and fire our CEO though. Thats what a solid club would do…🙄

These people aren’t evil, they may be incompetent but I doubt it, they may be on borrowed time, but we can have change to our benefit too…

So here's a coach who won a flag three years ago, got hammered by injuries towards the end of 2022, even more so late '23, was always two players down in '24, because of Angus and Smith, got hammered by injuries even more this season, and many armchair critics on this site are so in the know about what it takes to coach an AFL side that I'm stunned none of you are getting a gig.

Then there are the 'gossip mongers', the clowns who believe every bit of Fantasyland blurted out by a very mediocre and biased media.

My only interest on the topic of who coaches is that we have the person who gives us the best chance of winning it all. And my feeling is that the last 4 years have shown me that Goodwin has given these guys a method (albeit a very boring one to watch and maybe to play) that can win it all.

We've been let down by the guys on the field in pressure moments consistently over the last 3 years. I'm starting to think Goodwin's effort to get this group to the ultimate prize was a pretty remarkable one. The same players who won it all have looked slow and pretty poor in pivotal contests once teams worked out they need to move the ball in ways that don't allow us the kind of numbers advantage we want.

I am not confident that any other coach in the AFL could do better with these guys. And I reckon Goodwin himself will be in trouble if he loosens the defensive principles and tries to play a style where our players either win big contests or we get scored against regularly. Unless we turn over a lot of this list it is going to spell real trouble imo.

Your list of % wins by coaches is totally meaningless without information of available talent.

Daniher didn’t have May & Lever, he had Alistair Nicholson & Matt Collins.

Ridley & Beckwith were probably decent coaches but had poor lists.

And of course, on that list of MFC coaches in the last sixty years only one has the most important stat - a flag.

Great comment binman. The problem this year was not the coach but injuries. Losing Smith and Gus before the season even started and then others over the season wrecked what was a good start. Add the complete lack of KPF’s and we see why we did not play finals. We need a good run with injuries next year!  What is happening with Smith?

I have come to realise how lucky we are to have Goodwin. One of our superstars has ADHD and addictive tendencies. And another is self centred. And neither of them can regularly hit a target inside 50. The whole playing group could have easily fractured and turned on each other with a poorer coach.

Get your facts right: Collins played for one season. Nicholson and Ingerson was more than handy.
