I guess the big question on everyone’s mind is can Petty crack the 10 goal milestone as a permanent key forward by season end?

Dunstall-esque figures.

Port are top 3 in both clearances and goals from clearances in the last 6 weeks, and top 3 in points against.

Certainly been a brutal 4 weeks in terms of playing teams in form.

It will be interesting to see how much Port will win by given we beat them on their home castle early this year.

We were smashed by the dogs and i don't believe that Tracca was the main reason.

The club seemed checked out several weeks ago. Many players and sadly not the new ones didn't turn up the last few weeks.

Not the way you want to end a season given the way we started it.

The season that promised that much so much but delivered so very little. And sadly it was players that are supposed leaders and veterans of the club who let it down.

It's hard to fathom if they could not be bothered this year.....it ,will change next.

Can't imagine much of a crowd this weekend. Again can't see why supporters should turn up. But for those mighty ones that do, I hope the team makes an effort this weekend for them. Maybe lay a tackle that shows you actually give a damn this round perhaps. Would be a nice change .

Tom controlled Hogan for the best part of 3/4's before a couple of good efforts by Jesse after a flood of supply. Had a shocker tonight but also got some of the roughest umpiring you'll ever see. Honestly, a few dropped marks paid and laughable frees against.

He'll finish very highly in the B+F. If he's keen to play on someone will nab him. If we move him on it will only be because we've found another option and we want to stagger the McDonald/May coming off the list.

Why would he be dropped for Tomlinson who would've given up just as many if not more contests tonight given the flood of supply.

Spot on. Those who claim he is past it obviously haven't watched him this season. Been the Iceman down back, contested marks, spoils, beating smaller opponents at ground level, and - can't believe I am saying it - super reliable by foot. A dirty night against the Dogs doesn't negate the rest of the year. Recruit of the season (to the backline).

FB:  Bowey  Tommo  McVee

HB:  Lever  TMac  AMW

C:  Langdon  Oliver  Woewodin

HF:  Chandler  Petty  ANB

FF:  Kossie  JVR  Fritta

Mid:  Schache  Rivers  Sparrow

Int:  Kolt, Melksham, Howes, Laurie, Sparrow(Sub)

In:  Tommo, Schache, Laurie

Out:  May, Gawn, Viney

Resting Gawn as its not worth the risk, same as Viney, he doesn't look right atm.  Long season being our only Mid for most of it.

Schache to ruck, give him a crack at it, has done it before but it's more about not bringing in someone that's not ready and also not getting someone important injured.

These changes won't happen but it's what I would like.

Rushing an undercooked Christian Salem back into the side while dropping two developing and encouraging defenders in AMW and Howes is a ripping move.

Sadly.

Not sure what Salem has on Goody but this isn’t the first time he’s rushed him back after injury.

Those changes really sucked the jam out of my donut.

These changes suggest Goody is serious in thinking that we're not out of the finals race.

We're not going to make it and it's hurting the development of a player that can help us next year (AMW).

If I'm Norf and TMac is available - he gets two years and a trigger for a third.

Maybe ensuring that AMW doesn’t cross the 10 game barrier this year so we can maintain him as a Rookie(new rules) have to consider all angles.

We are clearly still trying to win as many games as possible to make finals. Goodwin said as much. I’m not sure why anyone is surprised by the selections after he said we will do everything we can to make the 8.
If we lose this week, which we likely will, I suggest we will see a number of players managed.

I would have thought that regardless, Salem shouldn’t be rushed in after multiple soft tissue injuries this season. Oh well.

Goody needs to get on and do a ladder predictor. If we win all three games, there's still a pretty high chance we end up a game and significant % out of the 8.

I would be on board with Goody's stance if our destiny was in our own hands. But this just screams desperation and a wasted opportunity to blood some younger players, rest the injured ones, etc.

R23 hidden away in Gold Coast in a deadrubber might be the perfect Jeffo debut situation

On current form it is not a winning side. Salem is a liability first game back and Tomlinson completely outclassed at VFL level. This is desperation.

That picture of Gawn's ankle was horrendous and I'm assuming there is little to no risk of further injury given he's playing..

*assuming*

Salem back in as well is just so iffy.

Just reeks of desperation.

"desperation", "rolling the dice", "trusting players to do the job"

same decision - different lens - so choose your language

"argh the season's shot- play the young kids" whilst gnashing teeth that the seasons shot...

And whilst on form, it doesn't look great - at least the FD is more optimistic than some of you lot...

I'm going to the captains run at Gosches on Friday. However the time says TBC in the website. I'm guessing the time is usually at 9.45am.

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
