Hola . Season over.ย  Can we have our bestย  decision maker and kick in the midfield instead of a back pocket. See you next week!ย

Viney looks really sore, will probably require surgery on his shoulder

Oliver has 14 pins in his hand, will require surgery

Gawn has his ankle/leg issue

May has his back/ribs issue

Get them all in for surgery/recovery early so that they are fit for the majority of the preseason. And give the AFL minutes to guys in the VFL to see what they have (Laurie, Jefferson, Fullarton, K Brown)

100% this.

And I really don't care if we get flogged which we probably will.

2025 preparation starts now surely.

All I ask is for McVee Rivers and Kosi to get more midfield minutes between now and the end of the season.ย

I don't disagree but with Rivers and Mcvee slated for the middle, May looking not far from done our backline looks cumbersome.

Disco looked good in there. I would play him instead of May (who needs to rest!), Howes can play the Rivers role as heโ€™s a good user and AMW and Bowey can play on the smalls.ย

The reality is that the midfield is the number one priority to fix in the off season. If it continues to stink it up then we wonโ€™t compete again. We need to generate more midfield power, and we will undoubtedly do that via the draft, but itโ€™s not enough.

Rivers and McVee are absolutely both good enough to become seriously great midfielders. Itโ€™s time to make it happen.ย

Viney is 31, Trac is an unknown and may find himself more forward when he returns, Gus is gone, Salem canโ€™t get on the field. We have to regenerate the midfield and the quickest way to do that, is to use what we already have at our disposal.ย

Disco was our best defender. Actually has intensity and a will to compete which Petty lacks.ย

If Petty is to go back next year then Turner needs to play forward. I'll call him Disco when he starts showing some more moves.

Get ready for a nice pantsing. Iโ€™m expecting a 10+ goal loss.

What did McVee do to get suspended?

Langdon is a fair chance to get a week with his tackle on English.

Out: May, Viney, Oliver and Gawn (end of season surgeries done now for those that need it)

In: Fullarton, K.Brown, Jefferson and Sestan

Yes, exit interviews could be interesting unless he makes the decision himself. Would prefer TMac stayed, even if he plays the year out at Casey where he could bring a bit of experience. Can't see BBB or Schache going round again.

Fgs how long is Schache contracted for?

Please tell me this is his last year.

What about Fullerton, McAdam, Hunter and Bbb?

Surely we don't need them on our list that is already one short for reasons we can't mention.

Please Mfc no more other clubs hand me downs going fwd.

Hasn't worked in the slightest.

Even Billings has been a bust.

I still think we offer Tmac a one year deal.

He like all oir seniors players are mentally cooked from the year and its disappointing that they've raised the white flag.ย

But with Tomlinson moving on at the end of year and May being 1 year older I'd keep McDonald purely for depth next year.ย

Petty and Turner gace to be regulars by next year down in defence.

Last night was very disappointing. The players obviously thinking of the beach.

Let's play our youngsters. give them gametime.

And can we please show some heart and fight. Pride in the guernsey. I can't abide these missed tackles and half arsed efforts.

Necessity is the Mother or invention โ€”-> innovation.
Mr Goodwin has never been a great innovator.ย
He surely now he will be forced down that path.

Who do you partner with JVR? Jefferson...and? I reckon one has to play forward.

Then up the other end if you have TMac, you'll have May and Lever. Where do Petty and Turner fit in defensively?

I admit, I'd love to be able to manage May a little more, even Lever, so that come the pointy end, they're fit and firing. But it may not be possible.

What? This has been covered continuously.

Defensive diamond, inside sliders and defensive zone that won a flag.ย

He's been a constant innovator. The thing about Goody is he plays the percentages after the innovation.

If Jefferson makes it, which although looking ever so slightly more promising atm, is still a fair way off heโ€™ll play forward with JVR and Turner. Petty, May and Lever go backย

The reason we still want a key forward is Jefferson still looks unlikely. Waterman isnโ€™t the answer IMO.ย

Rivers has played midfield every week since the North game, weโ€™ve got proof on concept that heโ€™s good in there, just needs a bigger tank. I almost wonder if heโ€™d be better off finishing the year at half back to stiffen up the backline or at least rotating between them.

I donโ€™t mind a look at Judd especially later in games but he was an ordinary VFL player in 2022, a back pocket last year and is only now getting chances at half back and as good as he looks in parts of his game I think he floats without the starting point of a defender to play on.ย

He also has a light frame and he likes to paddle the ball and evade contact. That can work in the midfield but itโ€™s also a recipe for disaster. I donโ€™t see the rush purely because heโ€™s a good ball user down back. For now he should stay back and use those skills more from half back.

Just want to see Jefferson and Laurie in for the remaining games. Not much else to get excited about for the remainder of this season.

Time for the draft board to be opened up?

Donโ€™t think the excitement will last long if that happens - unfortunately!ย

Just want to see some reward for form and in Jefferson's case a taste of senior action, don't see either two making a significant change in our performance.

Laurie in particular must be feeling particularly annoyed given his run form in the twos goes unrewarded. He's been by far and away our best Casey player this year and continually gets overlooked or not given chances to consolidate at senior level. Being dropped after last week's performance was perplexing.

ย

Seeing that Pre Game thread pop up straight after a disappointing loss just induces the vomit lately. No idea how people have anything to say on it right now but credit to them.

Good.ย  I was watching on TV with the sound at my preferred volume level (i.e. on mute) and thought they were replaying the incident multiple times to criticise the umpires for missing an obvious illegal disposal.ย  Ony later did I learn why.ย  More fool me.

Clarry fined for engaging in a melee.ย  How do you do that without anyone else?

Forward: JVR, Jeffo/Melk 11 games each, trade for a good forward or forward/ruck, ย Tracc 80% forward post centre bounce.

Back: May, Petty, Lever. Disco depth. A good mature back up (Edwards from West Coast?)

Trade Fritsch - his zero forward pressure impairs our ability to play a second ruck or a young key tall like Jeffo. It also doesnโ€™t let us play those talls (or anyone else like Tracc and Kossie) as the deepest forward.

Let T Mc walk to a rebuilding side or be depth elsewhere.

In terms of who we bring in it has to either be Waterman or a mobile ruck/forward who can stay out of the way whilst forward and contributing in the ruck.ย

If the trade plans fail thatโ€™s when you keep Tommy and swing Disco or Petty forward.

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
