Brave man!

I live in Richmond so I will be leaving as late as possible, enjoying my own soundtrack and tins at the moment

I’m currently missing Essendon getting humped to come in tonight. It better be worth it.

We moved from Hawthorn (near Auburn station) a few years ago to live in the country. It was time. We loved Melbourne for many years, and while we visit for all the great things, that’s the one regular thing I miss - having a few cold ones and jumping on the train and going to an almost empty MCG to watch a game. (Half joking with the last bit.)

Preparation… ?!?!?!!!?!

Simon Goodwin will coach the Dees versus the GWS Giants on Saturday night despite spending the past three nights in hospital.

Goodwin copped an infection at the start of the week that required an intermittent IV drip.

He was part of team meetings via Zoom during the week and discharged on Saturday morning.

I've changed my mind, I'm coming now.. atrocious weather and replacement buses can't keep me down

Love it.

Who's to say you won't be the difference between a win and a loss?

Looking at the radar I'm predicting no rain in the first half.

And some passing showers and possile hail in the second half.

The planets are aligning fellow Dlanders.

Essendon to take their rightful spot outside the 8 and us to move in.

For good and Goody.

Blimey.

Whatever anyone might think about how we're travelling, it can't be argued we have had some appallingly bad luck this season.

You could imagine it, but if you are imagining the USA you'd be wrong. Because "free speech" means that the government can't police your political views. It doesn't stop a private company (your employer) from limiting your speech.

And fwiw he isnt compelled to sign up. As an athlete he could have chosen a range of sports to pursue, and he could choose to be paid to play in other leagues.

And to make it worse, we aren't even talking about the AFL restricting general speech. The critiscm he made were directly of his employer. If you worked at Coles and went on a podcast and gave Coles a spray and your manager a spray and they heard it you'd get fired too.

I typed a longish response to this but decided to not post it because it is off topic. Just to say at the very least the AFLPA should work to remove obnoxious clauses in contracts  that allow the AFL to muzzle players.  A player strike would put a rocket up the AFL's rear.

For anyone complaining about the cold a young Indian lad who has only been in the country for a month just boarded my train wearing flip flops / thongs on his bare feet.

I was watching the Olympic Games opening ceremony and saw a local bloke wearing the same footwear.

Believe it or not, his name is Phillipe Philoppe.

Thanks for clarifying that

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
