GAMEDAY: Rd 19 vs Fremantle

Recommended Posts

Just saw vision of the Lever throw call, freo player wraps his arm around Lever's neck just before and it's completely missed and Melbourne are penalised. Vision makes it a shocking umpiring miss.

In what has been a very disappointing half of footy 2 positives stood out to me.

Windsor is a winner. He only knows how to win.

And JVR is going to be the best tall forward we’ve had in 15 years.

How can every other team shark taps and we can’t??

do we do no research into other teams?

My thoughts exactly. Teams can go in with no rucks against us and win a clearance. We have no ruck and cannot get near it.

But Oliver and Viney badly need a rocket.

Because it’s hard to learn to shark taps in two weeks when you’ve been used to having the best ruckman of the modern era at your disposal for years.

The ruck contests aren’t the issue. Our mids doing nothing to defend the ball drop is the issue.

He's a gun.

Hopefully won't be rucking all the time.

I know we are getting obilterated in the ruck but is there any chance our mids can play goalside ffs.

Goalside at clearances is it much to ask for, on their shoulder.

Also stick a [censored] tackle.

Yep, just stop the the clearances where Freo walk it out. Go defensive until the Dees can even the contest.

Putting that display not on Goody's non ruck selection call, but instead on our midfielders who have totally outworked.

Need a huge lift out of Viney, Rivers, Kozzy and ANB

At half time of the Alice game I thought Freo couldn’t play any better and we couldn’t play any worse. They got better, we got worse.

Definitely the same vibes about this game aside from Freo’s inaccuracy. Will be interesting to see if we can make some inroads in the second half or just let the game get out of control per round 12.

We’re definitely playing with one hand tied  behind our back with the ruck and clearance issue.

Bedford by a fair margin for mine.  He has a weapon which Chin does not.

Chin only has manic follow up pressure (chasing tail) and second efforts which sometimes works and looks good when it comes off.

Bedford brings the wheels plus the latter.

I was being somewhat facetious 🙂

Bedford by the length of the Flemington straight and then some.

Should have been obvious to the List managers BEFORE Bedford left.

This is reminding me of when I played U17’s and the top side would show up with a dozen players over 190 cm and most with beards and sideburns! We amazingly seem to be undersized all over the ground but somehow they also have midfield players everywhere, running riot!

Too funny. Thanks for that.

did you ever see that Wonder Years episode when he is soccer team shows up and the opposition are like twice as tall as them? I have memories like that too…

I put the blame on our leaders

Viney and Clarry in the middle have been terrible especially when we are getting towelled up

May the only leader standing up

If I’m Goodwin

- Disco to shadow Darcy around the ground

- ANB hard tag on Young

- Viney head to head with Sarong

- McVee to the midfield.

The speed on this game looks to have gone past Salem in that first half.

Hopefully he can bring something to the table in the second.

This was a big test for us , but we are getting games into our youngsters and hopefully better next year with Trac back and a proper pre season for Clarry.

We still have a chance this year with Max back next week.

Hurts seeing Jackson dominate against us, as he is what we are missing most.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.
