Koltyn had to be better then. Costs us a potential goal which results in them transition forward for a goal right on the siren.

He's just a kid Daz. Still trying to get the tempo of the game. That last goal was down to missed tackles from experienced players at that last stoppage.

Very optimistic of you. Do you have time to co-host a Demonland podcast?

One tackle and that doesn't happen

Yes but shouldn't have had to.  Kolt needs to learn to kick off a few steps and not lollypops either

Agreed. I can’t be mad at Kolt when I’m watching Salem, Viney, Oliver and Sparrow let their opponents run unmarked for half a game.
Can’t stick a tackle. Can’t win a clearance. Can’t hit a target. Hence can’t win.

I love the Kolt, and yes he's only played a handful of games, but hes regularly slow to react and doesn't read his surroundings well. He had eons to get rid of that ball going forward, it was almost as if he waited to be tackled. He'll get better with more games for sure, but boy, he'd want to get that slow reaction out of his game

Not having an experienced backup ruck is killing us. Hopefully the boys were just saving themselves for the second half.

How disappointing. Kolt should have made a better go at that, how aren’t we communicating with each other?? Then it goes the other end to an unmarked Walter’s, again. For a goal. Instead of being maybe 3 goals down, we’re back to 5 mainly because they’re not kicking straight.

Maybe I’m delusional but we can come out and be aggressive. Mids need to work very hard. May being our top ball getter tells the story.

let’s just come out and fight, throw everything at these guys we have nothing to lose.

2nd half of that wtf we actually got some control back.  Less free players around the ground that killed is up to that point.  Also a pretty small ground, about 1/2 full.

some of the umpiring has been second rate.

that last goal really hurt after getting the game back even.  But wd looked better in the middle. Maybe Darcy tiring with his first game back.  Up to them he’d been ministering us.

half to go.

Looks like freo will have to wait a bit longer to see the best of us.

Kosi non existent today after an amazing month.

Really hope he can find a way into it in the second half. We need him badly!

King wants to see a 15-20 goal win for the dockers. That’s what he thinks of us.

I hope the spray Goody delivers to these players at half time peels the paint off the walls.

I can deal with mistakes and wrong decisions but lack of effort is not acceptable. we've been chasing shadows most of that half. We should not be out worked to this extent by any team.

May has been great.

I think Verrall is going to be a player, but it's going to take some time. Fullarton should have been in the team today, absolutely no excuses.

Our lack of defensive accountability at stoppage from our mids considering the ruck set up is disgusting.

Our lack of work rate through the midfield is disgusting.

The lack of leadership from senior players (May aside) is disgusting.

Discipline and effort requires no talent.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
