Why? What if the teams get better? Who knows what the future holds. Nobody saw ‘21 coming. Sometimes you’ve got to make moves to improve.

FWIW, I listened to some of the "what's next for the Dees in 2025" and the cough pundits cough had us in the window and/or with a bright future (JVR, Judd, Pickett, Rivers etc). With caveats of course, but no reason to write us off yet. And we actually did OK earlier in the year with an underdone Oliver so who knows. Always look on the bright side ...

Clayton's no rocket scientist.

I think I could follow a team made up of PhD students. A few Greek classicists mixed up with some exotic mathematicians.

Stress free by comparison to the mess we have now

The Age says that on his current contract Oliver would be easily the highest-paid player at Geelong. So that’s ahead of Jeremy Cameron and Patrick Dangerfield.  It says Geelong has rarely overpaid for even the top-end players they have had. Seems like they’re far better money and player managers than we are.

I have no issue with Oliver taking a pay cut.  IFF he wants to go, he and his agent need to pull their finger out and broker a deal that is irresistable to MFC.  MFC need do nothing.  I see advantage in the salary dump as we are a couple of players off premiers..

Not erotic Mathematicians Diamond Jim? Square roots and all that.

A 59 year old ceo getting outwitted by a 12 year old Clayton oliver is actually the funniest thing ever tbh.

But they're also helped by the fact that houses cost less in Geelong/surf coast so the players are ok will bring paid slightly less. Let alone the under the table deals...

Yeah, the crappy areas of Geelong.

Better areas of Geelong and the nicer surf coast towns are not cheap. They'd get little change out of $1.5mill for better houses

Welcome to Norlane Clayton. The jewel in the Bellarine crown

What a circus our club has become .. what will the review  reveal the ring leader?

Oh well he's gone if he's liked that insta post.

No Dees, he's gone if we trade him. I get the other side of the argument but I hope we hold him to his contract.

Pretty pathetic from Clayton. Very childish, if that is him. At least Christian kept quiet.

The MFC has bent over backwards for this [censored].

He is a 27yo that needs 24/7 baby sitting. One day he might turn into a grown up.

His ex gf must be a saint. She held him together for his MFC career until last year.

Part of the new Geelong contract should stipulate a clause that he must have another gf mothering him

You’re all going to make yourselves ill, just calm down a little. The “like” on the instagram post was photoshopped.

if he really, really wants to go and we play hard ball, it will be interesting to see if he will take a new reduced salary contract at the cattery. if he does, no salary relief from us and cats prepared to give us a better trade/pick deal.

There’s no like from Oliver on the cenchfooty IG post. What post are you clicking on?

The “like” by Oliver is legit, it’s on the page, and links straight to his IG.

Shows up on mine.

Apologies folks. Was just trying to prevent a few heart attacks. If Oliver is ‘liking’ those types of social media posts, then you can bet we’re pushing him out the door. Don’t complain about our culture then in the same sentence complain about a cultural issue being shown the door. Amazing player, could’ve gone down as one of our best. It’s unfortunate (if he does indeed leave), but I’ll just look at it as an opportunity.

Media been trying to destabilize the club for 2 years now. Scum.

Pretty sure the clubs done a good enough job of that itself

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
