Oliver Trade Rumours

I love DL.  People hear or read things, then make all sorts of assumptions about what is going on and then reach conclusions as if their conclusion was written in holy writ, especially if it is consistent with their own previous disapproval of a person or the club.

How about some "If this is true, then X" rather than just saying "X"?  Just occasionally?

In this case try insering an IF at the beginning of the sentence:  Pert is shopping Oliver around without the knowledge or in opposition to the list managers, he should be sacked.

We can vent all we like, but very few of us know anything about what's goig on.

Hear hear!! Some unfounded rumours on trade radio, which is dying to find things to talk about, and everyone here is crying, "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" and is blaming it on whoever their particular personal scapegoat is. And completely overlooking that Clayton Oliver has said he is not interested in Geelong!

Where did Oliver say that? (possibly hearsay - like everything else)

When did Clayton Oliver say he wasn’t interested in Geelong? Or are you just doing exactly what you’re accusing others of doing - choosing to believe the parts of reporting they want to believe?

He had an interview with Geelong!!!

This is not a rumour

Just keep your head in the sand if it makes you happy

This was posted last night on his personal Instagram... right after the story broke...

He’s promoting a podcast. He’s taken #13 Melbourne fc down from his bio, it’s clearly not a response to the story

That's because he lied and chose to make it up on the spot.

Ollie will believe what he wants to believe. Delusional really.

Clarry ain't going anywhere,Cats couldn't even afford him and give us suitable picks with Bailey Smith coming to the Cats.

This is all just BS by Morris and McClueless to fill rubbish articles.

I'll read this thread again on the last day of trade week and find surprise, surprise Clarry is and always was staying, you can all waste the next 3 weeks of your life on the pointless thread!!!

He's sharing a post from a podcast he was on.

So pert apparently shopped him around.

I just feel if we get Clayton on the right track, injury free we could get our good player back again

Russell Robertson saying now on SEN that "no player is bigger than the club."

Very odd from him.

I hope he was talking about Pert

I praying Oliver is there next year and Pert isn't

Agreed.

I am quite angry about this situation arising two years in a row.

I want Clayton Oliver to stay a Demon for the entirety of his career.

I don't know how Geelong can afford BOTH Bailey Smith and Clayton Oliver.

Nothing would destroy my soul more than watching Clarry help Geelong win a flag.

I just love the idea of giving them our best player so they can keep contending for a flag until I die.

Not only has Clarry removed #13 Melbourne fc from his insta bio, but he's also now set up a LinkedIn account. I had no idea he worked as a kitchen hand in Echuca before being drafted. Imagine that kid on the pass! He is also currently undertaking a commerce degree at Deakin, so clearly has his eye on the future.

About bio: "My name is Clayton Oliver. I enjoy playing any sport really, being outdoors and being with friends and family. My main passion is sports, and hopefully one day I will be involved in a sporting environment eventually. I would like to see myself as a hardworking, reliable, determined and loyal worker. My strengths include supportive, reliable, observant, enthusiastic, loyal, hard-working and good practical skills."

It's time for Tim Lamb to go. Can't even be trusted to get on the phones to shop Clarry around, so the CEO had to step in.

Club is in total Disarray!!! all need a shakeup . MASS SACKINGS need to occur. Appears to me Clarry would find a Geelong environment, much more condusive to his footy and personal needs!

Mfc want to add midfielders, I can't see a scenario that would convince us to trade away our prime ball winner.

If anything, we keep Petracca and Oliver for next year and hope they hit their best form. If (and its a big if here) they're still unhappy and we're not making finals, then I'd be open to maximising our draft capital and bringing in multiple first rounders prior to tassie coming in. This year would be selling low for both.

How can you know that?

Why does no other club have their player movements plastered all over the media?

Seriously? There's even a radio station talking about nothing but trades.

Haven’t heard them talk about which member of each club is taking and making calls to other clubs 🙄

I have been a fan of Gary Pert as CEO for the Melbourne Football Club for a while.

I thought he could help make us a big Club like we used to be way back in the 1950s and 1960s. Back where we belong. Making the Melbourne Demons the centre of the AFL Universe.

However, the article in "The Age" is quite damning (if true).

If Gary Pert has gone back to the bad habits he allegedly displayed while Collingwood CEO then that sets off alarm bells.

A CEO of a football club should not be sticking their nose into player movement decisions.

If Gary Pert has done this, then I think that it will be curtains for him. I hope this isn't the case as Gary Pert has been an excellent CEO in my opinion. His track record of achieving objectives has been very impressive.

Anyway, at this stage it is all scuttlebutt and innuendo. The media seem to like sticking their boots into the Melbourne Football Club.

Hopefully, the external Club review currently being conducted will uncover any significant issues. At the moment, everything else is just "fugazi" as they say.

It's the CEO's job in any organisation to stick their nose in wherever there is risk. I cannot think of a bigger risk than Clarry, be that today, last week, or last year.

9 news say Cats to offer future 1st.

With Smith and Clarry the future 1st will likely be pretty ordinary.

There would be a lot of things going on we do not know about.

We will need to trade picks for another 1st rounder in this draft to go with Windsor and Tholstrup.

We could get a good player with the pick 25 from the crows although it will fall back a fair way with compo, academy picks etc

If the club thinks we should rebuild around our young players, why sign Viney long term? Why keep Langdon?

Because if you're going to build a team around young players you need leadership and you need experience.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
