Joe Richards just requested a trade to Port, so you can safely assume Pies will get Houston, using Richards and Noble trade return, to get the deal done, with maybe some steak knives pick swapping.

Yeah, lock that deal in

No doubt both teams had reached out to Richards as part of a deal to land Houston at the Pies

We're not really in the hunt for Houston, and it would be negligent list management to pursue it further given the asking price. We've now hit the point where we need to rebuild and look to the future, not blow high draft capital on a 28 year old flanker.

Procure pick 13 if possible, then take picks 5 and 13 to draft to find the next Petracca and Brayshaw star types to build our clubs future around alongside Windsor, Kozzie, JVR, Rivers and Mcvee.

It seems like Collingwood will be getting pick 13 as part of the Noble trade unfortunately which is going to make it really difficult for us to trade into the first round, with Richmond favoured to land Brisbane’s pick 20

Wonder how Petracca feels about Collingwood trading away their future first rounder.

He stuffed up our Houston trade and now stuffed up his own trade up the yellow brick road.

Pies have cost us Brayshaw, sent trac to hospital and on his way to them and now take Houston from us. They also beat us most times. That 23 Flag was ours for the taking. Hope everyone's having a great day!!

This from Tim Lamb in The Age says a lot. Looks like a massive own goal:

With Dan Houston [changing his mind], is there a concern these instances are causing other players to have concerns about coming to your club?

Yeah, obviously, when stuff’s in the media, if you’re a player, if you’ve got choice, and there’s noise around a club, which there was [around us] at that time, then obviously, that could have an impact. But in terms of Dan specifically, I can’t answer that. But yeah, that’s a fair point you’re asking.

Is that something you need to address internally and clear up for the future, to make sure the players do want to come to your club?

100 per cent. We don’t want to be a club that players don’t want to come to. We want to be a really attractive place for players to come to.

Are you attractive at the moment?

(Long pause) That’s a good question. Hard to answer. Yeah, it’s hard to answer.

Is it concerning that you have to pause and think about it?

I’m just trying to give a measured answer.

I wouldn’t be upset if Lamby have an unmeasured answer and cooked a few

Noble is wildly over valued in my opinion. I don’t think his skillset is particularly difficult to find.

Me neither, but I’d also like to find it. Or at least coach it.

Suggests to me Collingwood think they have no chance of getting him in 2026 I would have thought

Lamby is obviously in a difficult position and is trying to answer truthfully.

Its tough when the noise from Trac , Claz and The CEO has put the club in a weaker position and have basically shot themselves in the foot, because we now miss out on guys like Houston who would’ve been the Perfect Gus replacement.

Houston wants to head to Princes Park. He had a good relationship with Voss at Port Adelaide, is close friends with Jack Silvagni and was a Blues supporter growing up but Carlton aren't throwing everything at it and are juggling many balls (as you do in trade period). He would be a handy addition but ultimately it is about what it costs you.

they will still have 2 first round picks if anything happens as a starting point

If they trade away their future first this trade period how do they have 2 first rounders next year ?

Is the AFL giving them priority picks for being so cringeworthy 😂

Did the Trac drama appear at or around the same time that John Noble wanting a trade to the Suns? Just spitballing here.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
