Windsor named on bench. Anything in that?

Woey needs a decent game so makes sense

Fullarton and Disco named bench, potential for Fullarton to get a run and Disco sub? Try Fullarton and if not working revert to last weeks line up?

Ensuring the burnout marks don't appear on the deck before the five minute mark of the game.

Excuse my ignorance but do most other clubs take three emergencies with them on interstate trips?

Didn't realise Bowey was named in the bench.

He could absolutely either get dropped or start as a sub. His form of late has been pretty poor and considering AMW has been playing better football off half back they might look at using this opportunity to get Fullarton in perhaps.

All guesswork I suppose.

A little bit of razzle dazzle to warm things up...

Fullarton to play . You can bank on this . Petty to be sub or emerg.

Source? Or just your opinion?

I don't know if it's a rule but I thought that the sub and emergencies come from the extended bench. Petty not on the extended bench which tends to suggest he's playing.

Fully expecting one of Billings or Laurie to play, and be sub. Personally I don't think either are part of our future and I don't think either are going to make us better in 2024, but I also appreciate the importance of rewarding VFL form and I understand both were very good last week.

We're coming home this week boys and girls, I'm expecting a spiritual performance from the lads.

The closer the game gets the more my confidence rises. Even though that’s  always been true for me I’m feeling pretty confident about this week. Let’s face it does anyone here seriously think Freo are better than us?

I'm all for the optimism and confidence, but yes, I seriously think Fremantle are better than us.

Their loss to Hawthorn last week doesn't immediately negate what they've done this year, which includes beating Sydney two weeks earlier. They have weapons which we struggle with (a midfield which can match us at contest but beat us on spread, half-backs with pace, forwards who can compete in the air even if they're not A-graders and rucks who would give Gawn trouble, let alone Petty/JVR), and their only losses in Perth this year have been to West Coast in a derby (we lost to them too) and Sydney in the game after McCarthy's death in which they were clearly and for obvious reasons not at their peak.

I want to see us play like we have the last month, and if we do I think we can win, but I'll be OK with our season and fortunes if we don't because Fremantle should be considered a difficult match-up for us and a strong opponent.

Irrelevant issue but geez I far prefer the back of our jumper in that shot than now, more red and the number over the red…

Bring the pressure and Dockers will fold big time. No change excepts someone for Woey and I don't care who it is as long as they also bring the effort and pressure.

We have this.

I'd rather the opposite; start with last week's line up and sub in Fullarton if not working.

I'm also more interested in seeing what Fullarton can offer at AFL level than Laurie or Billings.

That was a truly magnificent day at the football. Aaron Davey was a fantastic player to watch.

I think it used to be a thing once upon a time but woewodin was named on the field last Thursday against Essendon and was obviously the sub.

Edit: not sure if this extends to emergencies, they normally do come from the extended bench and I can't recall a time this hasn't been the case.

I'm sure by now others have seen the articles describing Freo's 'nightmare' flight back to Perth from Launceston.

Personally, I don't see how we could approach in fear of a team which can't go four hours without taking a [censored]. Especially after they already spent more than two hours [censored]ing the bed against Hawthorn.

It occurs to me now that I've never used an aircraft toilet. Are they really that bad? Is it like the Indonesian truck stop drop toilets I decided to skip and wait until I made it to Surabaya?

But, seriously, that bizarre article is a timely reminder that our opponents this week are only human, and we go in with every chance of victory.

Yep i hear you GNS

Relax y’all… chalk Sunday up as a win.

Aside from the fact that we’re the better team, and we’re riding a wave of confidence and belief, there’s this other compelling reason…

I’ve never experienced a loss at an interstate ground when it’s the first time being there. Sunday will be the first time I attend the ground at which the mighty Dees won the 🏆

Y’all are very welcome!
😁

PS: Heads up, WA: Loud and annoying (and indefatigable) Demons psycho incoming!

Definitely Dees overshoot on emergencies.  Freo took an extra emergency last week v hawks. 24 in squad.  Not sure why we are so cautious especially as I can’t recall in the last 25 years of any event where two players pulled out prior to the game.  Let alone 3!!!!!

For once, WCW, you are not going to get too many DL's disagreeing with you on that statement.

(i prefer deranged, but that's just me).

no way windsor or disco go out or sub in my opinion, both amazing last week. Only chances for a drop or sub are bowey and (hopefully not) kolt

Goody makes a fair point when his says Freo haven't seen our best footy.

Ummm...one would hope that was the case.

Max out is huge again but we win without him. Hoping Fullerton gets the not because Jvr can't do it all and Petty was not great.

Maybe Petty is the sub.

A huge upset on the cards.

From what I’ve seen Verrall is way better than Fullarton as a football player. Why is he being ignored?

generally seems that they love him but he's not ready and they want to give him as much time as they can to build

last year it was 4 named on bench and 4 emergencies, with sub to be selected from the emergencies. this year its 5 bench and 3 emergencies with sub named from bench.

Generally that's the case, but not always. I think the AFL expects teams to be named in that way, and if anything else happens there's a small process to go through to formalise the change. A couple weeks ago we dropped Woey I believe after he was named on the ground in the extended squad. But generally you can assume that sub is named from players on the bench, and in the case of extended squads, 4 of them will be on the bench, 1 sub and 3 emergencies.

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
