We need to start turning the sprinklers on before the game and during quarter breaks at home games.

McVee is absurd in the wet.

Rivers... what an absolute gun.

Rivers has certainly stepped up and showing what a quality player he is... given the opportunity. I miss Trac but I'm glad to see Rivers displaying some great skills. Go you good thing.

Why is McGrath’s head so big?!

Because it's full of peptides and rocks.

given that Trac returns Rivers is going to be a great addition to the midfield rotations.

Umpiring is disgraceful but hey what’s new I guess. It is concerning that Melbourne players can continued to get tackled for a lengthy period of time without even being close to the ball. Holding the man non-existent.

the commentary is an Essendon love fest which is making my ears bleed.

rivers is an absolute gun, the man is playing out of his skin and it’s awesome to see.

the boys are having a red hot crack and I’m loving the intensity, just pray they keep it going into the second half.

FCS what were you expecting? He has put his hand up.

Undermanned in the ruck, Petty being towelled up apparently but guess what we are winning the clearances just. Got to wonder about dominant rucks. Their real value is marking, spoiling around the ground, forcing teams to go wide, rather than the number of hit outs. Which is code for me saying we should have kept Grundy 😀

Is Kossie subbed out?

Don't think so.

the question now is can we maintain or even increase that lead over the next 2 quarters. the boys have done well. Petty has to lift 5 disposals and given away 3 free kicks in the half when he on the ball a fair bit of the time is not great. certainly need sparrow to lift as well

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
