If we play like this for the rest of the season, even if we can make finals, I will have a very happy face.

Very reminiscent of our second quarter against Brisbane two weeks ago. Let's just hope we maintain it this time.

Rivers is literally the complete package as a midfielder. Tough, quick, dynamic and a powerful kick. Love him.

Look we knew it would be an uphill battle in the ruck, but credit to Goodwin for cobbling something together with Petty, Turner and Roo. I feel Roo has kind of had to be called in because Petty's pretty hopeless unfortunately.

Great work to break even and even win the contests in the 2nd quarter. Hoping the weather stays poor because Essendon's running handball game has cut us to pieces when they've been able to implement it.

Anyone claiming that Max's ruck work isn't very good need look no further than how ineffective Petty is as a ruck.

Getting a bath by Draper

Might help him to have clean hands?

yes, hearing it is the same finger... being strapped and boarded i think

Whatever happens (and I know a loss is the end of the world for some), we have found a few players who can carry us forward. I.e. I would never have picked Trent to be so impactful in the middle. I'm sure some may have. I wasn't one.

Looked like he had it kicked early in the 1st qtr.
No free for In Danger of course.

Much better quarter. Stopped Ess run on the outside, lots of pressure on the man causing the fumble.

JVR much better in the ruck that quarter. Not getting pushed off the ruck contest

JVR is jumping into Draper and being more physical than Petty

My PCA won’t administer anymore painkillers for an hour. Hope it’s not a stressful second half.

Petty very lift up as a Full Forward, he could be the match winner.

Essendon got a few run and carries through the middle, but our defensive stifled almost all of them. Great effort all over the park. Viney and Clarry working so so hard. Windsor and Langdon playing well, and have clamped down on Duursma. Rivers and McVee - brilliant.

And a BIG tick to JVR who negated the curtain maker.

good first half, especially when the rain came (Nice to see).

We seem to be playing to the conditions and getting it forward and apply pressure.

The most important question is, can we now sustain this for the second half.

lets go boys...

They never call kick in danger anymore, stupid AFL like chaos football and let players kick anytime anywhere.

Consult your local wacky tobacky dealer ET. Say it's urgent.

We need to start turning the sprinklers on before the game and during quarter breaks at home games.

McVee is absurd in the wet.

Rivers... what an absolute gun.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
