The deliberate was there everyday of the week.

He was tripped by Daniher and stumbled over the line.

Goldstein and Draper won’t both play if Gawn is out

Please excuse my ignorance but why would they both not play in Max’s absence?

If no-one has mentioned Cam Pedersen's name yet please allow me to be the first to do so.

I'd be going Fullarton for Max and Petty for Woey in the 23.  Turner sub a la J.Smith last year. That means Fullarton for Max and Petty for Turner in the 22 from last week.

I think Essendon plays a tall line up and our talls will fatigue with the ruck load spread. An injury to a tall would be a big challenge. Therefore Turner sub.

Petty's best game for the season was the Brisbane game, immediately before his injury,

15 disposals, 8 marks, 4 tackles. Thats a CHF game!

Unfortunately the 0 goals 4 behinds is not a CHF game!

But he'll definitely becoming back in.

If Gawn misses, perhaps we pick the ruckman better at ground level out of Verrall and Fullarton, forgo the taps and focus on negating Draper/Goldstein by providing additional ground support?

Petty has been terrible all season as a forward, so I would'nt be playing him, but they probably will, why not Turner in Ruck in Tandem with JVR and debut Jeffo??

Amazing. Not like we play two top 4 teams in the next two weeks who happen to have really good ruck combos.

2024 is not it.

Yep 24 has been a complete s..t sandwich in terms of injuries and luck. Max being out is huge especially against Essendon.

Haven't been a fan of Petty fwd either but I want to see Jvr playing in the middle as little as possible.

I think we should just roll the dice with Fullarton and Turner in the role.

Most would know that this was always likely to happen and aren't just finding out now how imbalanced the list is. hey may have known this at the start of the year but had their fingers crossed, understandable.

Gotta take a risk, Fullerton was obviously good enough to make it to this level. Let's see if he can do a simplified job as a competitor.

We've got nothing to lose except our dignity, roll the dice.

An alternative is Tomlinson for Turner in addition because I think he could come on and ruck longer with his endurance.

Petty has been building in his last two matches and took 5 contested marks against Brisbane. That's where we'll miss Max most of all, as a long target. Petty must play if fit.

We just need a contest in the ruck, and he's more than proved he's a good contested mark forward and back.

This is it. A contest works for us. It will give us a different look for sure.

Although the Dons did double team us last year so we need a couple of options.

Personally I like Fullarton and Tommo tag teaming.

And is available at the moment.  Just returned to the Phillip island Bulldogs team, after a 12 month ACL layoff.  Kicked a couple on return, so probably a better option than some of the names trotting around at Casey.

Is Draper a serious player though?

Good point, but seriously better than our next fill-ins for Max.

Haha.

The only people that believe he was tripped are Melbourne supporters. Funny that. Most notably the die-hard, rose-coloured ones who hate any kind of negative word said about the club.

ANB had more that one opportunity to dispose of the ball, before he fell over the line. It was deliberate by every and any measure. It was a bad decision on his part to hold onto the ball.

It's okayyyy to say that.

I think the Bombers will only play one ruck. They are coming off their best win for years and won't drop Nate Caddy, who looks to play a bit like a young Charlie Curnow, or Harry Jones who is also showing a lot.

Peter Wright played in the second ruck role for them and he will still give them an edge in the clearances against us.

He was tripped but he milked falling over the boundary like he did

had he pretended to try and keep his feet but stumbled then different story

I'm not going to say this too loudly, but I'm starting to think it is time to give Sparrow a spell at Casey.

Started the season 'just adequate' but has slipped from that level as the season wore on. Hasn't got past 16 possessions in about 8 weeks, and hasn't had much impact when he does get it. Unless there's some potent defensive running and genius positioning going on - which I've seen no evidence of - then I think we can do better. I also think that Sparrow can and should take the opportunity to really dominate a few VFL clearance games and set himself to come back in with a much more assertive attitude ready for the late season and finals.

Essendon's pretty nimble mids group would also suggest a little extra speed is a good idea, too.

Maybe Sparrow out and Brown & Woewodin to share the sub minutes?

I think so long as he rates high for defensive/ pressure acts he hold his place

plus without trac and Gus we don’t have inside mid cover for him

There's a reason the overwhelming majority (if not all) in the footballing media world agreed it was deliberate and not a trip.

At what point are people willing to take off their glasses on here to just see an act as it is?

So bizarre.

If he had the opportunity to kick a match winning goal, do you think the 'trip' would have stopped him doing so?

Just take the glasses off.

Every week we play teams that have a worse ruck than we do. we still manage to lose clearances often

So screw it! shark their taps and put someone to challenge.

We will miss Gawn around the ground tho

I said he milked it so obviously its deliberate, but he did slightly grab his foot haha

Fair enough!

Because Goldstein didn’t play last week and wasn’t injured. Also, no need to have an ineffective 2nd ruck when dees don’t even have one main ruck option

Fullarton will be making his debut in the red and blue this Saturday night.

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
