Jaded No More 68,976 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I don't see the big deal with Adelaide dropping Rachele. He's a young player, and the Crows obviously have given him things to work out that he isn't doing. It could be things that to the naked eye are impossible to judge, like two way running or pressure acts etc. It's definitely not unusual for a young player, especially one in a role where it is difficult to always be making an impact, to be dropped. I highly doubt they would even entertain trading him. 1 Quote

I agree it's doubtful they'd entertain trading him, but I think it's worth asking the question if we believe he is in the top 2 or 3 targets we have and can make it work within our TPP. I wouldn't want him being paid more than Kozzy for example. But you do sometimes have to pay a premium to lure a player away. I'd just hope the lure of Melbourne (the city) is enough, and playing in a better team. 1 Quote
Gator 18,054 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I know Rachele has stagnated somewhat, but he's a very talented player and still only 21. He was interviewed on SEN in the preseason and stated that most of his friends barrack for Melbourne. I put this down to being from Shepparton, which was Melbourne's zone back in the old days. I hope we're going hard for him. 6 2 1 Quote

deelusions from afar 1,894 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Not sure if it is just because of the weekend's performance, but I think the talls in our forward line are looking ok (particularly with the development of Jefferson). In my view it has been getting better most of the season and it is more the midfield that has let us down this year (which makes sense given the personel). It really comes down to good ball movement and skills. If we could clone Windsor a few times, that is the sort of player we need more of - fast, good skills, good decision making and surprisingly good in the contest. I guess you could say McVee also has these qualities. I also think the Houston interest is about having more players in the back half that can open up the game on transition. We don't have too many players that open up the game with long accurate kicking. Melksham is one of the few that does it in our team every now and then when he roams further up the field. Given our athletic / mobile medium-tall forwards - particularly Disco, Fritsch, Melkshem and McAdam (haven't given up on him), having an extra player or two that can kick accurately over 50m would help us enormously. So while they'd be helpful and great gets, I'm not sure Waterman or Rachele are really going to get bang for buck Quote
The heart beats true 18,201 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Adelaide have clear cultural problems. (Hope you’re reading this Tom). Quote

Adam The God 30,749 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) I'd happily give up our future first for Rachele. He is a gun. ANB + F1 for Rachele, and maybe a future pick or two so we're loaded up next year for Ah-Mu. Edited August 22, 2024 by Adam The God 2 Quote

I found the interview from February this year. He briefly mentions that a lot of his friends barrack for Melbourne and that they would have ''come down'' to the G to watch him if he wasn't suspended. That assumes coming down from Shepparton. The old zone connection makes sense to me. Very briefly mentioned at around 4.30. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/02/05/how-talented-but-fiery-crow-plans-to-take-his-game-to-the-next-level-in-2024/ 1 1 Quote
Melonmonster 124 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 As we have academy players and father sons hopefully coming to us next year through the draft , will that mean we will look to trade out picks for 2024 draft as they will be consumed for matching bids ? Quote

Demon Disciple 12,538 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 There’s no denying his ability, but imagine him in our forward line 😩. It would come out even faster than it does now. Rachele = 0 forward pressure. 2 Quote

John Demonic 5,988 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) 20 minutes ago, whatwhat say what said: sure, and minus about 40 goals a season too Rachele has kicked 30 as a 21 year old, and has a decade of footy ahead. I'm not advocating that trade, I'm just pointing out that defensive pressure isn't a reason to not recruit someone. And the club could trade Fritsch and we'd be no different on that end. Adam The God 30,749 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I don't think Rachele is as bad defensively as some are making out, but the forward pressure question is different depending on the game style being played. With a forward half territory game, inside 50 tackles are essential. But if we look to go a little quicker (think 2018 style corridor footy), hopefully we capitalise on inside 50s and convert them before the ball has a chance to ping out. 2 Quote
Travy14 2,142 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 If there Is even the slightest bit of unrest with Rachelle at Adelaide we simply have to enquire. And work it in the ANB trade, we could seriously get a steal here. 5 Quote

How about ANB and McAdam? Seriously, he is on a big contract and I wonder how that would play out. Edited August 23, 2024 by Redleg Quote
