At the end of the session Clarrie and Goody had a long talk out in the middle, just the two of them. She said it looked like a serious convo. I told her maybe they were talking about Clarrie’s skills of late and she said it’s funny I should say that because while they were talking Clarrie was dropping a footy to his boot and kicking it back up to himself over and over. Well, of course, it had to happen: he kicked it and it sprung up and hit him in the face. He and Goody laughed so I’m guessing the chat wasn’t about Clarrie’s skills. 😁

PS I seriously think a sherrin is like a security blanket to Clarrie. I’ve noticed that he’s almost always holding one during training, even when balls aren’t being used.

I’ve heard the Daicos boys say they always had and have a footy in their hands and kicking constantly

Pity some of our guys don’t have the same elite kicking skills would be very handy

But this isn't "closed" because you can watch it through the wire fence.  You reckon that a Collingwood forward scout couldn't have seen it if he'd wanted to.

We should be embracing dedicated and passionate supporters, not punishing them.  If you want a closed session have it at another venue and don't advertise it.

I’m pretty sure they don’t advertise Casey sessions. They advertise Gosch’s, and for Casey it usually just says “dates will be announced here” or similar. I’ve made friends with the property stewards and they tell me where upcoming sessions are.

I’d say the lady you’ve spoken with at Casey is indeed my fellow-Dees nuffie buddy. She attends many sessions at ”Crannie” as she calls it since she lives in Frankghanistan, as I call it. 😂 She told me on occasion she’s chatted with a creepy old guy. Anyone we know? 😂

Ah now WCW Dont mistake Creepy for Guarded, coz WCW Well u know, 😇😂

Thanks, WCW and may I remind everyone it isn't long ago Clayton had major surgery on his hand. I met him. at a function just before his return game, his hand was seriously swollen. I am not entirely convinced he has full confidence in that hand yet or that this the reason he isn't in the middle as much

Great work by your locum WCW and as I said I was called at the last minute to look after the Grandkids and they are not old enough to be left unattended not even for a minute. My Grandson would have grabbed a slithera by the throat flung him away and looked for others to terminate, he is a real BAM BAM Type. If its a lady acquaintance of yours WCW I do see a person from time to time checking out training and have spoken to her. Like you she is heavily invested. Hopefully next few weeks I can venture to Slithera city and present a report!

Well you could have chained them to the fence sometimes you have to think outside the square for a cause...

Sorry, @WalkingCivilWar; did you say Kentfield trained?

Surely rushing things?!

😉

On the contrary, TRAB! He should’ve been training last week according to some. In fact, why was he not named to play last Sunday?! Granted, he was living in WA, but that’s no excuse! Our bloody club should take a leaf out of the Eagles’ book. 🙃😜😇

PS did you know it’s only a 3-hour flight from Perth?

So what you’re saying is, he could have at least played the second half.

Was just taking the [censored]. There’s a poster on here who is angry that Luker didn’t start training earlier, instead of three days after he arrived in Melbourne. The cheek! He should’ve been at training as soon as his plane touched down, an Uber straight to training! Said poster then backed up his nonsensical assertion with the claim that the flight from Perth to Melb is only three hours.

Yes that would not surprise at all.  Some of the harsh critics tend to brush over some of these potential unkowns (outside of clubland)

This would explain his seemingly 'outside' style game of late and looking a tad lost at times while out there.

He is also roughly 25% off his 2023 contested & clearance averages to date.  Although his tackling is coming right back up to almost 2023 levels @5.8 per match over the last 6 weeks vs 6.3 in 2023.

It might also explain his reduced attendance at CBs vs Freo.

Down 12% on 2024 average (70%) to 58% in this game.  And down 23% on his 2023 average of 81%.

His overall ave CBA so far this season is down 11% on 2023.

My gut feel is it may have flared a little post the Saints and we are now looking to nurse him into the bye with less time at CBA.

Maybe we are looking for a managed situation from there.  Giving him some time out with the bye and possibly adding to that the match against North in order to assist with any hand / fitness / soreness issues?

🐍  though they will be mostly "resting" this time of year.  That said, they are still around - an old bushman once told me that they were more dangerous in winter because they are too slow to get out of the way; in summer they will mostly slither off and seek cover.

Definitely, DZ. He had a grand total of NO idea we’d pick him, therefore he wasn’t prepared and had to pack and immediately relocate to Melb. He said he doesn’t know what they have planned for him since everything has happened so quickly but whatever they have in store for him, he’s “really keen and ready to go.” He has a great mindset too. I asked him if he was disappointed not to have been picked up last year. He said not at all because he knew when the time was right it would happen. Seems the time is right!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
