How bad must that have been.

I was there, it was bad but understandable, we had a shizen side playing one of great sides of any era on their own dung heap. I am not sure this isn’t worse!

We will make the eight.

We will be seventh.

This is a club very much in decline as evidenced by the players we have recruited and kept in Schache, Hunter, McAdam, Fullerton, Bbb....to name a few.

Where players like Petty gets gifted game after game because there is simply no replacement.

We need to rebuild are list and that takes time.

Today is not an aberration. It happened two weeks ago against the eagles. And before that to Carlton and the lions.

We can be competitive but the difference between our best and worst is vast.

Our once touted midfield is alas no longer functioning like it used to and we have one good fwd in Fritta.

Today is ample proof of our deterioration.

You cannot downplay the game plan it needed to change after 22, I have said it once and will say it again one paced midfield a forward line that is non functional and what will change, nothing.

Pathetic.

Uninspiring.

Weak.

Gutless.

Embarrassing.

Ordinary.

Feeble.

Poor.

Miserable.

Sad.

Wretched.

Pitiful.

This is worse that 186. We have stars on every line. Premiership players galore. It's a diabolical performance. Geelong were the best team in the comp in 2011., and we were garbage. Freo are bottom half of the 8 at best. I'm a positive footy fan, but this is a disgrace.

When you have everything to play for and do this - you’re a disgrace of an outfit.

Every single line is out of its depth and playing below itself. There are lots of reasons why we’re this bad but we don’t have a single line that is performing and that’s just abysmal.

We have a right to deserve more effort. I don’t expect to win every week but we MUST at least show something!

For who?

Anyone with a heart and some effort.

For who?

I'd prefer anyone.

Can't be much worse and at least a statement is made.

But your right, some terrible recruiting and lack of thereof,by us leaves us with nobody else.

Why are we loading so heavily at this time in the season?

Cus we have a bye coming up, and to have a better set of legs come September!

This is hilarious reading the mania.. it’s genuinely cheered me up — knowing how silly supporters get (me inc many times I’m sure in the past) from one game! If you can’t see there’s something desp right about one side and wrong with the other then you’re either blind or delirious..

Lets see how many of these same names bob-back-up in a few wks saying “it was the turning point” or it was “an outlier” result..

Sure, I may be 💯 wrong but this team right here has proven over and over they’re made of the right stuff and jumping-off to me seems to be the antithesis of an erudite Demon fan.

Its awful, my 10yr old footy nut daughter — who is someone that lives and breathes footy (playing/supporting) is an absolute mess right now as she’s never seen this, has no reference for it at ALL.. So I’ll be dammed if I’m gonna encourage her to be a fire-weather supporter! Not saying anyone here is, but I’m saying we have a choice to go we react & im choosing to trust this group as that’s what their history has proven!

Sack Goodwin! The game plan sucks and it’s the blueprint to beat us laid before us, as it has been by so many sides now

And which Freo started with our first loss in Rnd 11, 2022 and have had our measure since

You left out- That's not us and Learnings.

Sack Neeld now! Wonder if Paul Roos is available. Season 2013 just needs to end already.

This is not one game tho. We have been average all season. Other than Geelong, and maybe Port, who are both non contenders, what quality team have we beaten this season?
We are playing like an average team, when we should be pushing for a flag.

Petty has one disposal in three quarters of football. Needs to be dropped ASAP.

Be fair… he’s had 2… one kick, one handball 🤣

There’s something poetic about Wagner not being able to get a game with us when we were trash….and now he’s playing for the opposition while we’re trash 😂

Where's the pride?

With the rest of us watching on TV

This has been on the cards for a while. Good that has happened now so hopefully something can be done for the sake of this list - forget this year. It has been ruined by poor coaching and skill execution.

A team that has trouble scoring against the #2 scores against team will kick over 20 goals. Goodwin hand in your resignation-  you have lost the players.

Too many people at this club just content to be getting a wage, including the coaches!! [censored] poor and embarrassing.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
