My thoughts...

Petty did not play well but his leads were ignored a lot. Overall the forward line still is figuring out how to work together. McAdam missed some chances but tackled well, gave good pressure and crashed packs to spill the ball.

ANB is a certified stoppage midfielder now, not just a half forward. As others have stated, Langdon at HF with hunter and Windsor on the wings provides a unique and dangerous look.

Viney was ferocious. TMAC has dukes. Tomlinson was also great.

Credit really does have to go to the coaching for all these.

I always appreciate your positivity after games. While I didn’t love everything about today, the things were mostly those of somebody who has gotten used to following a great team for the last few years haha, like junk time goals and some sloppy skills here and there. There was a time we would have given almost anything for wins, and certainly the saints had a weird hoodoo over us (they weren’t alone, of course).

But you’re right though the ladder tells the story. We’re in good position after a tough first half or so, with excellent % and can launch from here. The boys were happy and really supportive of one another which was something that struck me.

Anyway, thanks for the positivity 😊

Now THIS is the guy you really are. 🤗

For those knocking McAdam, whilst he had a quiet one, he still laid 6 tackles as a forward which would still please Goodwin and Chaplin. Had an almost type game today.

It'll come to him, still trying to learn a new system and especially one where we aren't great with forward delivery.

I reckon we'll see him break out come Kings birthday weekend against Collingwood.

I watched him from the Punt rd end.

Calling what he does inside the F50 as a lead is lip service. The guy runs 5ms and gives up.

He should be leaving up at the kicker trying to create space behind him instead of contesting it up, he has 0 craft.

Haha thanks WCW. Sorry, was having a very mini, somewhat out of character and unnecessary moment of nitpickery before. I’m pretty positive, and tend to have a sense of humour about it all because at the end of the day it’s just a game, and to follow this club you have to have a sense of humour haha. But yeah, just a moment of expectations exceeding the moment. We got the win today and that’s all that matters. Plus we won well, and as I said, they looked happy and that tells me the other things will continue to fall into place as the year progresses.

There was a brief patch in the third quarter where our contest intensity and ball movement went into high gear and in 5 min we’d killed the game. That patch, is the level we’re seeking and working towards.

i was encouraged by that, and if we can take that into next week, grow it some more… then we may build some genuine momentum for the second half of the season and into finals.

pumped! Go Demons…

All good RBMB. Knew it was completely out of character and was worried we’d lost you to the dark side. 😁 Glad that wasn’t the case.

McAdam is very much a work in progress. As well as learning a new system, he missed rounds 2–18 through injury last year, and had a far-from-ideal pre-season.

Some folks here suggesting he “gets in the bin” or posting vomit emojis ought to be ashamed. He’s putting in the work. That’s all you can ask at this particular juncture. It’s about building a squad, and not every new player is going to fulfil some Karate Kid fantasy.

Jimmy Stynes would go close as would Jeff White.

We have been lucky.

But Max is one of the all time greats of the game.

Is no disrespect to those awesome Demons to acknowledge Max as GOAT. Madden was very very good, but also played one out, We would win by cricket scores if Max played one on one in the forward line.

He's starting to mount an argument as the best ruck in the modern era.

Def the best ruck at Melbourne, and that's no disrespect to White, Jimmy and Baker.

Not sure if your as old as me but Madden had way more space that Gawn had. Watch 4:15 through to 6:00. While Madden had to deal with much rougher play, Gawn got huge defensive pressure with blocks and holds, no coach is ignorant of what Max can do. While Gawn/Grundy didn't have the immediate result we wanted, I seem to remember Gawn kicking 5 in a prelim.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
