Does Demonland ever write to the club? I reckon it has the standing and authority to do so. It would certainly have my support.

Appalling clear bias, NB #22 who always screws us, but we did lose it in the first quarter.

Vince McMahon must be the umpires coach.

We don’t have an Eddie Maguire to yell all over the media about it like would happen if this was Collingwood so I’d support that for sure.

That level of umpiring can’t just be let go.

Thank you so much.

Not just the ones not paid but 11 frees to Carlton in the first to our three was putrid. That's equivalent  to 44 to 12 for a game. Who wouldn't object to that?

Most of them were just soft gimees and then in the last quarter the umpires remember there is a htb rule.

Instead of all the ones they missed prior.

I really hope we ask for an explanation but it won't change anything.

Umps seriously looked like having an agenda tonight and that free called dangerous helped them achieve it.

Despite our poor start we would have won if the umpires did their job without bias.

They got sucked in four times with dob by the crowd.

Cowards .

It really puts one off the game when they get umpired like this.

Edited by leave it to deever

Bad calls both ways, particularly in first half. It's not the reason we lost.

IMO, I think with the JvR tackle, Blues player's left knee digs into the turf and drives the hips up and upper body forward and down with momentum and JvR's body weight, his body jerks and doesn't go down smoothly. Just unlucky.

carlton player drove his own head into the ground… it looked so obvious.

He had zero ability to stop hitting the ground the way he did. It was holding the ball 100% but I don’t agree that he milked it in any way.

Yep. Needs to be fined 10k for staging if the AFL are serious about head injuries.
He could have really hurt him self by his attempt to cheat.

I respectfully disagree. I reckon it was holding the ball too until I saw his knee dig into the turf. Lucky we didn't get 50 metres playing on thru Langdon and Pickett.

Not how I saw it. He got caught , panicked and did what he could to make it look bad.

A player is going to get seriously hurt doing exactly that.

The McGovern non-mark upset a lot of people around me

And now the touched Curnow kick, instantly claimed by the toucher, May, AND the player right there, Rivers.

SO much to be riled by.

We all know that the AFL are total hypocrites about the head being sacrosanct.   They pick and choose when to crack down.  They are as disgraceful an organisation as FIFA and the IOC.

My main beef with umpiring is when bad decisions in the first half effect the momentum of a game more so than a bad one towards the end.

No it was not why we lost, the first quarter did that,  but poor umpiring should not be acceptable and if one particular umpire only pays frees one way. There should be questions asked.
we should ask the head of the umpires why. Make them justify those decisions.

make ourselves heard. Not necessarily in the media.

In the pre match thread I said I was not bullish about the match because of a huge number of variables, including:

- what, if any, impact will the umpires have on the game?

Thanks for setting up an umpire complaining thread

should make the other threads more readable

You don't think 11 to 3 in the first quarter was unreasonable,? Those dob were very soft. That none or our tackles got us a htb decision in the first 3 quarters then it's paid everywhere? That the call of dangerous tackle cost us a goal and the four points?

You should get a job umpiring.

Seriously that was an atrocious effort by the umpires tonight.

It actually put me off the game.

That they could give that many soft frees in the first twenty mins of the game was just silly and uncalled for. About four of them were strong frees and they missed about four of ours.

Then they stopped giving frees pretty much. Half handed out in one quarter. why?

The game was over at quarter time so I guess they didn't have to do anything else.

A classic case of over umpiring. And yet not for genuine htb. They ignored all of Carlton's incorrect disposal for three quarters for some reason.

Last week we couldn't sneeze without the umps pinging us for htb.

So, what are you all going to do about it?

Don't rely on the club, they obviously won't. They never have.

How about giving some feedback to the AFL yourselves.

Seriously, if we want change, we need to take action ourselves.

(Booing like Carlton fans doesn't count )

Anyone want to drag up the email address for the head of umpiring and the AFL ceo?

I'm happy to give direct feedback.

We didn't deserve to win but... we would have with effective umpiring

DM me, their email address.

They are politicians.

200 demonlanders lodging their feedback directly might make them do something about the woeful standards of umps and cryptos.

Felt shockingly unbalanced.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
