Yeah. We had randoms sitting in front and behind us all night in N53. Dees and Cats supporters. They would sit for a quarter and then be replaced by other randoms.

Is because the MCG no longer checks tickets. It's appalling. I don't know what they can be thinking.

If you set 2021 as the standard you will be disappointed. That season was elite.

Do you think we are a contender in 2023 or not?

We weren't, we lost our two finals.

I think we need to be putting more score on the board for us to be a genuine contender.

It is simply not sustainable for our defence having to continually keep the opposition scores less than our own when we aren’t scoring heavily ourselves.

Bliss.

Just started watching the replay.

First derm gem:

5-2 is not good enough.

Go redleggers.

Do you all think Danger would have made a difference?

As he wasn't there it doesn't  matter.  but think about all the games in the past when the opponent had key players out and we thought it was our chance and some random would pop up and dominate us.   So you play the best the opportunity can put up to us.  And we beat them.

Chris Scott is one of the main reasons that I hate Geelong with the fire of a thousand suns.
He is the single most arrogant, self righteous, ignorant piece of trash in the AFL.
What a sore loser.

Embarrassing game day thread as always. So little faith in the boys.

Great match. Great result. And eat [censored] Geelong 👏🏼

Except my stuff in the gameday thread. That was just class, like Windsor.

I agree with him for out team 5-2 ism good enough, we should have been 6-1 (Sydney were good) I take it saying with our talent, we should be at the top and we needed to show it tonight and we did.  Go Dees.

Looks like we're watching in tandem.

We apparently haven't been good enough in the last 3 years for the quality of the list.

I know we've had two straight set exits but 3 15+ win seasons isn't too bad.

He's overrated apparently to some bloke named picket fairy on here.

I sat next to demonland royalty tonight, incl @picket fence, @Bitter but optimistic and @Biffen

I think you'll find picket is taking the [censored] most of the time with his comments.

I was, however, most concerned that he 'conveniently' left his cards at home and only brought cash. And very little of that too!

It's fair to say that the MCG cleaners will spend considerable time and gurney pressure working on the area we were sitting

Sure. Presumably so did our 3 extra days rest.

Maybe Bowey, Salem or Melksham would have too?

Well where Danger is concerned I actually don't think he would have made a difference.

Unless he did his forward thing and gave us something to think about I think our defensive structure was set for anyone they would have run through their midfield tonight.

I don't often delight in other people's misery but beating a Scott brother always feels good.

Yes, it’s a pity that WCE did not spoil the dons party in the west. Even a draw would’ve been hilarious.

Scott-enfreude?

I'm just watching Fritsch's goal on a loop. Unbelievable.

Agree.  Gawn’s goal was also timely and inspirational

Personally I loved watching Scott have a post-game sulk.

Can't help thinking that Geelong fans must really, really hate us by now.

I mean... really. We 'stole' their minor premiership, humiliated (Correction: abjectly humiliated) them in a preliminary final, and even plinked them out of the 2018 finals, and now we've busted their winning streak and possibly their whole fragile momentum.

And on every occasion it was flu or some other tragedy.

Can it please also be us who have finally cracked their shell of invulnerability and ended their era?

It’s going to be hard to beat for the GOTY I reckon. That degree of difficulty on that was off the charts.

you mean a Germ gem!

5-2 was good enough with our injuries and draw!

of course i wanted to deefeat Lions n swans but we were without Kozalenko You Beauty! due to Kozzi's lack of discipline.

Germ only thinks of life from view along Hypocrite Hwy - the Family Club which promoted toughness but it was legalised thuggery IMO  (Germ, Dipper, Ayres, Jeans the leaders - did I miss anyone like Tuck?).

Germ from one awful club and he has no idea of current footy tactics!

Great win. Nothing more satisfying than knocking off Geelong.

Lever and May will probably go down as our two best key defenders in history.

what about Sud n Biff?

did Fritta look to put ball into goal rectangle with hope someone run on and kick it thru and happenstance "kicked in"?

Haven’t had the pleasure yet of actually watching it. I’d be surprised (disappointed) if he didn’t make mention of having to travel to the G as another reason why they just lost.
(I’m guessing our next home game against the kitty litter will be in 2028 at the earliest.) GO DEES

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
