So they’ve been talking about being a team we can be proud of.

So far, no. Not tonight. The last few weeks of wins don’t count. Today is a real contender who has had a few bad weeks. Grand finalists. Who nearly and maybe should have won. We need to strive for consistency. Having a dip every single week. We’ll lose some of course, but this is not acceptable for a team who wants to contend.

The deficit is likely too much. So. Will they play like a team that will make us proud or continue to serve up this slop? We got smashed everywhere again. Even tackles. The lions were clearly hungry.

Are we?

Wouldn’t want to be Richmond. Our 20 day bye will have us well rested and firing on all cylinders again.

Petty 0 disposals st three quarter time. I get the ball has barely got to him smoothly, but that's unacceptable. Surely you can position yourself to earn a free kick or something at some stage?!

Brown, jvr, fritsch, petty 7 touches between them at 3/4 time. Petty a duck egg

But there’ll still be people pinning their hopes that Petty is the great white hope based on 1.5 games of football last year.

There is a complete lack of forward craft how Stafford still has a job has me beat and it has been this way since 22 and it shows up when the ball struggles to get into the forward line, players standing still standing and standing on the wrong side when the ball comes in.

Yes, they haven't helped and haven't missed anything against the Bears, but we just aren't up to it on the night.

1 tackle, no other stats.  Sad really.

Are we in a Jackson 2.0 situation?

We are losing 9 out of every 10 contests on the ground, in the air, and our link up handball around stoppages has been like a bottom 4 developing team.

Our tall forwards are appalling tonight.

Tholstrup nowhere near ready for the AFL. Our other younger players - Windsor, McVee and Woewodin - have all looked lethargic and stunned.

Gawn, Sparrow, Chandler, Langdon and sometimes Rivers are having a crack.

Have no idea where Oliver, Viney and Trac have been. It is so rare for all 3 to have an off night at the same time.

All games have ebbs and flows but we have not shown even a 5 minute sustained period of excellence.

Very, very disappointing.

Feel sorry for Koltyn debuting in a game like this

It's all good guys. We are playing on a small ground, it’s very hot, humid and slippery. We will be so much better against the Tigers at the G under cooler conditions.

Go Dees!!!

Well the head coach is accountable, he is the one who appoints his staff 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Hopeless, [censored] hopeless tonight,

This has been an ambush 2 weeks in the making.

They'd been planning for this all during Gather round against North, whilst we were slogging it out playing 2 tough games.

Didn't have a good feeling about this from this morning.

Its a disappointing effort but at the end of the day its just one of those days.

Not exactly, this is a game against a potential contender and we look nowhere near them. Mind you Brisbane is not excellent by any means, yet we look second class.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
