I dunno man, this space feels like a real community and I like that these guys put in so much effort for no pay to reinforce that feeling. This isn’t fox footy, it’s Demonland.

There’s enough corporate feeling podcasts out there, I personally like that I feel like I’m listening to people that I engage with on this platform.

I’m sure the guys wouldn’t mind constructive feedback, but maybe like the OP, send them a private message. Could feel like a kick in the teeth airing this on public forum that they didn’t ask for feedback on… as again, they do it for free.

Fair enough mate and can see your point of view with all those points.

Certainly wasn’t meant to be an attack on anyone and hope it wasn’t taken that way. I’m a lover not a fighter!

Oh absolutely - by all means include the questions, they’re often great.

But if it’s just someone going “Hi Andy, love the podcast, I reckon binman is the best thing since sliced bread and my favourite ever player was Rod Grinter. Go Dees etc etc”, that sort of stuff to me is a waste of time and I wonder what the benefit is. That’s just a review and feedback for you as a host, not sure why anybody else would be interested.

But it’s your podcast, and your prerogative to run it as you please!

DB - as has been pointed out, play those bits at 2x speed or jump forward 15 or 30 seconds.

I personally would prefer if the whole podcast was sung as a musical to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Surely the Grand Old Flag would be a more appropriate tune. Though the Bohemian start above was pretty promising.

It's likely WCW will end up with more than one arm tied behind her back if she dares visit The Manor. Think below.

Both arms tied behind my back AND blindfolded… I’d still take down those two sad-sacks without even raising a sweat.

👊🏼

Note ⬆️ there’s no spaces between the periods in my ellipsis, precisely how it should be. 😉

Uber creepy, Bitters.

In BBO’s world ‘creepy’ and ‘romantic’ are interchangeable 🙃

@DeeBloodhas the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and leave a 5 star review, but in the review complain about @binman's ums so that @Demonlandneeds to read it out on the pod.

With all due respect to the contributors, there’s absolutely zero doubt that the podcast would be twice as good if it were half as long.

@Dee Boys I listen on 1.5 or double speed and it sounds fine.

I much prefer the depth to other pods that are very superficial but the time can be hard to squeeze in.

Crickey, this thread has become a little more than UM Rated

It’s free, with no ads, is utterly comprehensive, really good-hearted, long enough for a listen on a big drive, long enough to be broken into daily commute or brekky chunks, calls out Demonland community members (which is great for those of us who enjoy the personalised,  ‘community’ aspect of Demonland), takes on callers (non-judgementally), and sometimes provides great interviews. Um, really the podcast is just critic-proof.

I like it in its current form and length. Fits very nicely with the amount of driving I have to do on a Tuesday. You can always play it at 2x if that suits you better.

If the feedback was actually intended to be positive, thats fine - but did it need its own post? A comment on the pod post or a DM would suffice.

To echo everyone here, the pod is great. Thanks to those who take the time out of their day to create awesome content for us for free.

Love the idea of the podcast but guys, you've got to improve your public speaking... too many Ums...especially Binman

Just listen to the Adelaide podcast and BInman's stats Its ridiculous....Sorry I had to turn off just couldnt stomach the Ums

I'll try again next week and see if youve fixed it

Cheers

What a miserable [censored] you are.

lol at the censor filter that made my post seem more aggressive than it was intended but considering the mean spirit of the OP which could have been a PM or here's a thought just keep your [censored] opinions to yourself.

A bucket of blue paint WC?

Changing it from red to blue would surely be a huge Manor 'faux pas'.

Think again sister!

Absolutely disagree. Perhaps millenials and gen z need all their info in short sharp tik toks.

I really like the long form conversations and detailed analysis with the use of stats.

I also love the questions and comments from Demonlanders which provide other viewpoints from the audience and Demonlanders.

I have zero issues with the length and you can fast forward bits if your attention span can't handle it.

The guys put in a lot of work and there is no issues from me in thanking people that take the time to post a review.

@Demonland @george_on_the_outer & @binman don't listen to a couple of sour pusses. I love all the content and the length of the show is fantastic. I consume the show in bits and pieces if I have to to make it last. I crave Dees content and you guys provide it in spades.

Thank you ums and all.

It’s not so much that I’ve got a short attention span, just that I’ve got a young family, have other podcasts I try to also fit in during the week, and consequently barely ever have a free 2.5 hours for it. It wasn’t meant as an insult and glad @binman didn’t take it as such.

For those who are retired or with a bit more time on their hands, I’m sure it’s less of an issue.

The Pod can go for as long as the boys  like as far as i'm concerned.

As long as it finishes by my usual bed time and not after!

I'm even happy to send a coded message in the chat when i'm nodding off so the three amigos know when to wind things up...

Something really out of left field that only George, Andy or Bin would recognise.

How's about some sort of subtle filler that no one will notice like say "Um" ?

Just say “thanks for your reviews and feedback”!

Imagine if for instance the Fox footy podcast or the deebrief spent half their shows detailing every positive review they received rather than talking about actual footy, how bored you’d get of them.

For me, I listen to a podcast cos I’m interested in the subject matter and I’d assume that would be the same for most people? Not sure I’m saying anything earth shattering. And if you disagree that’s fine too, I’m not trying to have a blue with anyone!

I don't think the fox footy podcast would get any positive reviews  David Zita groaning at Max Laughton's attempts at humour 10 times a pod. They really should put on two people that don't hate each other. I'd maybe give it another go! Strange one to bring up.

As for the Debrief Podcast: Go Dees! It takes all different types of podcasts for all types of fans in the demonverse and I listen to em all! BUT they are better served spending what I assume is an expensive hourly rate in their rented studio with a producer, discussing the footy rather than the footy AND reviews and guest questions like the DL Pod. Let's let them all be unique in their own ways.

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
