Just another reminder as to how far this club has come. Another night to open proceedings with the eyes of the entire footy nation upon us.

What a time to be a Dee!

Or something like that..

One swallow is often one too many: it's called a Hangover.

Just listening to the pre game on Fox.

King told the story of his coaching days at Carey when Jack Viney was there.

He said they had to take Jack out of some games because he was too tough for the other kids !!

Under 18's apparently !!!!

All good over here. Had shower and shave..... breakfast over and I am locked and loaded watching the pre-game and there is no Bereton.... life is pretty good at the moment.

Expect a tough tight game for a quarter/quarter and a half and then we will look to take charge. Petracca and Oliver to have big games in the midfield with Brown and Fritsch to have good games up forward.

Dees by 4 goals.

Yep, give the Crows a sniff and the umps will do the rest, just like in 2021.

Need to start lots better than 5 days ago

Nah: it's the Cheese cake and Poppy Seed cakes!

Okay, so the donuts are good too: as is their Perogi.

The Adelaide Oval is no MCG. My husband said the hot dogs are terrible.

I had no idea where we would be seated but thank God I’m in an all Dee area. Not a Crows supporter in sight of me.

Its not only a pain to play a home team but to do it on opening night is the double whammy.

or

Have become increasingly nervous as the day goes on.

Win and we temporarily go top at 4-1. Lose and we’re in the middle of the pack at 3-2.

Yep - so we have all the motivation we need to win imo

I've heard Grinter was even worse. I think he actually ended the odd career.

The man has Balls.

What was the deal with ports sign with the cartoon car?

3 minutes left and 2 goals down.

The signal was get going like the car at all costs. We're running out of time.

To our players: please avoid sending low balls to Petty.

To Petty: If a low ball comes your way, don't try to catch it with your hands. Use another part of your body to control it, resulting in a loose ball or a stoppage situation. You've had three lessons already, we need you to stay healthy.

Go Dees!

Molloy on Footy show said it was the 'game over' signal encouraging the Port fans to leave & go steal a car from the carpark to get home

I watched 5 mins of channel 7 pre-game, and 10 minutes of Fox pre-game. I have been savagely reminded why I rarely watch any AFL pre-game on TV. Mind numbing, superficial, repetitive twaddle as an excuse for insight. Mute button on, browsing through YouTube and Facebook until I see the coin toss happen in the back ground.

Just start the game for (insert expletive of choice here) sake!!

Troy Wilson was even worse than both of them without doing anything. Half a dozen blokes ended up with long term injuries colliding into him in his first season. Noting, he didn’t play for MFC, but was a legend.

And it was nice of Fritta telling Port fans after kicking the sealer it was time to go home.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
