POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide

Recommended Posts

Something no one on here would be aware of is this morning as I was getting dressed to do the grocery shopping with my wife, I dug out the “Give em Hell” t - shirt from the 2021 finals campaign. Had 2021 vibes this morning and tonight compounded that feeling.

ANB take a bow

Clarrys last quarter was immense

Windsor is an absolute jet, that goal 😲 - thank you Freo 😂

Lever and TMac stood tall with May out and Petty moved fwd in the 2nd half

Congrats Jack on a great milestone win - I think the players were especially happy they got it done for him, he is the definition of a heart and soul player.

That last quarter was outstanding, but I've been writing about this a bit - we either try to win an extremely aggressive clearance or we're happy to lose clearance and play the game more in our defensive half. It leaves space in behind for our forwards and makes them look better and us function so much better. I like it. It's potentially more nerve wracking, but the slingshot is absolutely on with our game now.

ANB, take a bow. What a game. Viney incredible in the first quarter and then a really even team performance after that. Well done, BBB and Lever's early intercept play was excellent.

Up the redlegs and Goody must be an alright coach, I reckon. McQualter a great acquisition as well.

Where are all the whingers who had a go at the club for retaining Tmac and BB 🙄

We are a genuinely good club and we have a genuinely good team, and we need to stop taking that for granted.

A brilliant result considering we were definitely not always on top. We hung on during the momentum swings against us and were able to grind out a win in the last.
Kudos to Clarry for lifting in the last. He was clearly hampered by his hand but when the game was on the line, he pushed through.

Sensational game from ANB, and Windsor just shows elite glimpses. Knowing we got him from the Jackson compo picks makes losing Jackson hurt less.  Howes also quickly becoming a solid defender.

Overall a fantastic performance and a big FU to all the pathetic disgruntled ex employees trying to bring our club down. Suck a big one!

I am pleased to say I was wrong about BB. Big time, but thats life.

I think he is is in the best form and fittest he has ever been in his time with us , including 21. Hope he stays fit.

We have another group of generational players coming through.

Just saw Clarry in rooms after game with his shirt off.

Am amazed that someone with his ‘conditioning’ could be playing so well.

Gus used to joke that he could never get a 4 pack, let alone a 6 pack. Muscles don’t equal fitness.

Certainly our gutsiest win for a long time. Only disappointment was conceding 89 points.

Without May and with Petty going forward in the last, that is a bloody good result considering the patches of absolute dominance Port had in the middle.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
