Good to see Tommo get a spot.

Tomlinson plays we lose. He is that bad. He plays 1 good game out of every ten the rest are rubbish. Haven't given up on T.Mac hopefully he gets a game against Carlton to prove himself. Sick of the rubbish from Tomlinson he's not up to AFL standard.

I agree. They should send him to Werribee....

Probably no surprise, but Caleb Windsor will debut Round 0. His family have been told to make their way to Sydney for the occasion.

I'm not sure he's been given ten games.

Tmac could barely move in his last two games ( our finals) so I'm not sure we have much choice.

I would love to see a fit Tmac running and moving freely, but I've been holding out for almost three years now.

FB: McVee  May ????
HB: Rivers Lever Bowey
C; Langdon Salem Windsor
HF: Billings  Petracca Spargo
FF: Fritsch JVR  Chandler
Foll: Gawn Viney Sparrow
Int: ANB, Woey (half back), Oliver/Laurie?, ????
S: ????

Plenty of question marks. Didn't like the look of Tomlinson or Howes down back, would see if a tall puts their name up and try Woey on a back flank.

Midfield it's a matter if Clarry gets the approval or is made to wait.

2nd ruck/key forward is a big problem.

Handy out. That's 23 possessions and possibly a goal they'll have to find elsewhere.

Whilst I agree that Tomlinson was awful last week, who are the talls that will go up against McDonald, McLean and Armatey if we leave Tomo out?

Geez can't believe i am reading blokes want T Mac of all people in for Tomo LOL

T Mac is COOKED and should never get a game

Marty Hore should be in front of T Mac

Against a very tall Swans team i would go with this for Round 1

B - McVee, May, Hore

HB - Rivers, Lever, Salem

C - Langdon, Viney, Windsor/Hunter

HF - Neal-Bullen, Schache/Fullerton, Billings

F - Fritsch, van Rooyen, Chandler

Ruck - Gawn, Petracca, Sparrow

Int - Oliver, Woewodin, Bowey, Spargo

23rd - Tomlinson/Hore/Fullerton/Schache/Windsor/Hunter

Premiership player show some respect. He's better than Tomlinson.

TMAC is not the answer and unfortunately well past it. You can say "pay respect" etc however if he is playing at CHB, we are in huge trouble.

I love TMac he has been a great servant of the club and I would love to see him back in  his ‘21 early ‘22 form but failing that Tomlinson has to fill the void and personally I think Adam compliments Mayzie and Lever. Time will tell WERRIDEE.

FWIW, my order of preference is:

Turner, Hore, Tommo, TMac but I'll hold off until after the Carlton game to see if TMac has found some mobility, re- familiarity with the backline. Perhaps they'll have an extended interchange and play both or all three. TMac can also swing forward if desperate.

Its likely Tmac will likely be have to be re-swung forward again now with all the injuries.

As a backman I agree with the above. Its been many years since he played back consistently. Even then while he was great one on one in the air and competed well, his kicking was subpar. With how easily you can get burnt off backline mistakes these days we must ensure we have reliable kicks in our back half.

Tomlinson is a much better kick and competes so well one on one. While he's not too fast he can actually still turn a corner unlike Tmac who is like a train on the tracks. As a backman that's a big liability.

Its been two years since Tmac played in a premiership as a forward. Since then he's played seasons of 15 and 9 games. Last year he struggled to get into the side and even when he did was out of desperation for positional need and was one of the most disappointing in those two finals where he needed to stand up.

You telling people to “show some respect” whilst repeatedly insulting Tomlinson at every opportunity is a bit rich.

McDonald is a premiership player Tomlinson is nothing the sooner he is shown the door the better

McDonald is not a premiership key defender. One of Tomlinson or TMac will play key back in round 0.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
