Christ that's a quarter of our list. And easily 6 players who would be picked in our best 22 if fit too. This season has worrying 2019 vibes.

My understanding is they can have up to 8 on the bench.

Good. Means Brown plays for sure. He kicked a couple against the Tigers. We have trouble kicking goals so he stays in.

Apart from that Brown is more of a good reader of the play type rather than an opportunist. So he seems to be in the play a fair bit. He is quick, can tackle and evasive.

Windsor plays as well.

Then my team is

B: Lever, May, McVee

HB: Salem, McDonald, Rivers

C: Hunter, Petracca, Langdon

HF: Billings, van Rooyen, Neal-Bullen

F: Pickett, Fritsch, Spargo

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

IC: Bowey, Sparrow, K. Brown, Windsor

Laurie, Hore, Woewodin, Verrall

TMac and Hunter are listed as injured, id bring in Tomlinson and Schache to give us some height.😁

Apart from Brayshaw, Melksham, Turner, and maybe Petty the rest should all be available for the opening round.

The basic rule of thumb to having a successful season and winning finals is on the back of a healthy pre season with large numbers on the track and minimal injuries and off season surgeries.

I’d imagine the club would internally be very concerned about their prospects this year.

Never been to IKON before.  What is the parking situation there?  Just find something on the street nearby, or do they open up one of the nearby fields?

You’d have to get there early in order to get a park on the surrounding streets. There’s a carpark at Ikon but it fills quickly, especially for a sellout.

I highly recommend PT. From Flinders St Station it’s a tram ride to the ground, or it’s eight train stops on the Upfield line (three stops from North Melbourne station) and a 15-minute walk to the ground. I always do this since it’s a really pleasant walk through Royal Park.

But we can’t play all players who have missed some preseason as some will be under done I believe.

Kent has  simply made a list which has no real date or any info. Other than Disco being 7-9 weeks away. For eg he has posted Angus still on the list nearly 24 hours after he has retired.
Is guesswork so go to the Club website and get latest. Or look up City newspapers for more update info. On Carlton game hopefuls and Opening Round chances.

Players that can’t play or injury will prevent are Kossie Disco And Petty.
Balance  is some will play vs Blues and possibly be available for Sydney game or Some may not come up in time.

The tram as I understand goes up from Flinders St Station in Eliz st. Just ask the driver. Info usually available on the back of the shelter at the tram stop.

It’s all been said before but I hate the term “spud”. Its unnecessary, insulting  and  disrespectful. Tomlinson and others may have deficiencies but we all do. Yet we don’t go around calling family members, friends and work colleagues, “spuds”. Just not necessary.

I do recall "Spud" Dullard in days of yore. Not sure how he won that moniker.

Yes, if you catch the #19 tram from the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth Streets it takes you down Royal Parade and Ikon is a two minute walk from the 11th tram stop (Royal Parade/Walker St).

Tony inherited the "Spud" nickname from his father Adrian, who played over 100 games for Melbourne, including two premierships.  I don't know the origin of the nickname.

This list was on the Demonland home page  I presumed it had some official provenance.

Exactly.

If people expect to see much out of this match, they will be disappointed.  Carlton played Geelong in similar conditions last week, and it was the most appalling display of AFL football to watch, with turnover after turnover after turnover.  It was just too hot to bother.

We should know, it will be like playing in Darwin, so with a game only 10 days later, don't expect too much exertion.

Not sure if you're having a laugh or serious?

At 12 pm on Wednesday, during the third quarter, it will be 31 degrees in blazing sunshine.

At 7pm it will be about 32/33 with the sun past its peak.

Not sure there's massive relief in moving it to 10:30 - 1pm?

I would like to see Tholstrup get a bit of a run.

Gives him some confidence that he could be in the mix this season, that he gets an understanding of the level required, and we/they get a look at him.

Tx Werridee .

Tmac in theory sure but is his body is up to it?

I hope so but think not.

Also in his five games I dont think Laurie has proved himself as yet.

Otherwise you make a good case.

This is 5 mins from my place. You need to be early. One tip is to hit bottom of sydney road west side at 6:01pm when the clearway ends. Heaps of parks, and a 1-2 tram stops back down to IKON. Unless you have pre-game committments that's my hot tip. Parking over east side of IKON is a mix of permit, 2hr and full. Royal parade itself if you get lucky.

The Casey match starting time has indeed been changed to 10:30am.

More importantly though… it’s a CLOSED event. It’s Ikon’s decision to make it a closed event.

Of course like everything else this is subject to change, but as it stands now, it’s not open to fans.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
