if not, surely there’s a key forward out there somewhere!! There has to be another James Podsiadly lurking in the state leagues!

I nearly choked on my lukewarm chips and gravy! How are we back talking about drafting SVR again?!

Because someone was up at 2am and decided to attack a fellow DL poster along with Benny Brown. Posts have been thrown in the trash, this post won’t last long either I think.

Seems to be par for course in these situations. The Rioli situation dragged on for nearly 2 years.

For whatever reason I don't know but as you say unfair.

WADA ASADA and or the AFL are denying the Magna Carta

Magna Carta of 1215, clause 40 of which reads, "To no one will we sell, to no one will we refuse or delay, right or justice.

As Smith’s case has still not been dealt with, which is a disgrace in itself given the scenario, I feel we should be able to put him on the LTI list or similar and agree to pay out this year his last and have another spot for the mid season draft, if we want to use it.

It seems very unfair he can’t play, but has still not had his case dealt with.

The AFL is holding the decision relating to Smith over the MFC. Reasons, could be anything.

Are you saying that the AFL has a ruling that they are holding back?  Seriously?

Reasons??  Blackmail? Corruption? Incompetence?

Totally unbelievable and unacceptable if this is true.

The point of this thread isn’t the possible acquisition of SvR. It was never about SvR at all. Rather, it was created as an opportunity to disparage BBB, under the amateurish guise of interest in a replacement for him, as evidenced by the OP, and confirmed without a hint of ambiguity by the now-deleted post overnight (yes, I’ve read it, thanks to a good friend, and I truly appreciate the awesome ppl who who reacted/replied). Needless to say, BBB is a bazillion times the person a gutless online sniper is.

Would explain a few things in regard to a more than inexplicable draw, media stigmatizing, and tight, perplexing  decision making routines this season, so far. Think about it.

Considering that there are allegedly others implicated in this investigation perhaps it's no bad thing it has been delayed.

A lot of investigating is out of the AFL's hands.

Surely the only way others could be implicated is by testing positive on game day.

Hi loges. It's a subject we have to skirt around obviously. The thread isn't even about JS. I'm alluding to alleged text messages that may or may not have sent. Best we move on from this topic lest it be closed down.

You just have to wonder if this is having an effect on players. Of course if they haven’t done anything wrong then there is nothing to worry about.

I don't think it would as it only relates to an individual.

Doesn’t to me, Rioli matter was the same as were other matters under WADA in other sports.

We are in the predicament with a player down because of one person only and it’s not something I will forget nor will the FD, who I understand started down the road of setting minimum standards before the positive test came to light

Understand, but it doesn’t explain why he can’t be placed on LTI list and paid out as it is his last contract year. We are probably not playing him again, even if he was available.

I assume that the club is happy to have the delisting at the end of the season and is simply not desperate to use the spot now for the mid season draft.

We do have one pick for Gus spot and maybe that is all they want at this stage. Then again there is no guarantee we will even use that pick.

Maybe the term “ no good” could be changed to “ not good enough for AFL”.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
