It certainly at times adds to my observations and considerations of the game. I think its a step too far I understand why this does not matter in general society but they are professional athletes and some things just need to be accepted. 
 

what about vertically challenged players. Not fair to disclose their height i reckon.

They can identify at whatever weight they want to. 

It would seem to me that weight is just one key factor in injury management.

While weight can be muscle weight v Bone weight V just plain fat(my main component) it would seem a necessary measure to ensure loads arent out of kilter. 

It would also be a factor in collision occurances.

While it may not be relevant to everyone all the time and can obviously fluctuate due to many factors I think most health issues need to be monitored for weight. Could justifiably be a fact that only insiders have .

It’s been something never disclosed in the W comp, which is a mistake imho when at the same time it has always been disclosed in the Men’s. What sort of message is that sending to females?… it’s ok to reveal the male players’ weight but not the women’s. Why? Is it because girls should hide the fact and boys don’t need to? This only perpetuates the problem many young girls have with the pressure to not be ‘fat.’ For mine, that’s the point… consistency.

FWIW, I believe height and weight should be revealed for reasons already mentioned in this thread. 

LOL… someone needs to tell our coaches and trainers about this. At our Club, if you fail the skin-fold test you get put into the “fat club.” True story. The players call the skin-fold test the “fat pinch.” 

I look at the height and weight of opposition players through the year to get an idea of their size.  Kane Corne’s example of a Jake Lever vs Charlie Curnow as a match up was a good one.

Surely will also make things more difficult for the football department when preparing the team and players for match ups, especially early in the season or against new players/debutants.

I guess this started as an issue about body shaming in the AFLW but has ended up as a blanket policy covering the men's game too. As it's generally seen as impolite to ask a woman her age I wonder if that might be next on the agenda.

Cricket was a long time bw breaks for smoko.

The first game of senior cricket I ever played was at Yarra Park no.1 oval (the same area floated as a training venue for the MFC)

And there was a large tree on the ground at wide mid-on.  So fielding under the tree was a prized spot (shade)

Needless to say, the cricket ball ended up hitting that tree on countless occasions.  Go figure

I reckon the eye tells us, as you’ve just revealed. Knowing the numbers simply doesn’t matter, so shouldn’t be anyone’s business but the players and club. As for any effect on public or media ‘body shaming’, it won’t make an iota of difference of course. 

We could end up being the first”Nancy” league in the World Of Sport. aFL who would have thought. Name, height, weight, age, games played.!!

Who is to say they were ever giving us the correct weight anyway(?)

Paul Callery was a terrific footballer who gave his all but he was 5'4" (162cm) Did they tell us the truth back in the day?

Height doesn't make any difference if you're good enough but some of the heights given out these days are highly questionable
