Oh yeah Max refusing to speak to the media would absolutely not result in more negative publicity for the club. The media loves to be ignored.

Lol.. you of all people were jumping up and down and screaming at the media around the treatment of Angus Brayshaw and then the culture crisis with Oliver etc the past couple of months.

And now you're okay if Max feeds into the media?

You're funny one in a confusing way... pick which side of the fence you want to sit on.

The wider public would respect Max even more if he politely declined an interview with the media grubs especially the way they've conducted themselves of recent.

ffs, 3 pages of max having a little inconsequential chat at the races ... where i didn't hear any mention of "tough love".

posters should take dazzles advice, stfu, and wait for something important to whine about

The hour of how-not-to-attempt-damage-control on SEN was typical of Pert’s arrogance. Make no mistake - media managers at other clubs were/are laughing at us.

Bizarre decision & put us on a hiding to nothing.

Gawn at least now has the sense to not outright deny any cultural issues.

Promising Tough Love, I mean really?? As if to say this isn't part of our culture already??? GARBAGE COMMENT! Maybe just another new Learning spare me Max just shut up and play footy and do not give ANY amo to anyone!

So, you didn't bother to have a look at the news item then.

I might be going deaf in my old age but I didn't hear Max mention the words tough love.

Is there another video that I'm missing?

I have no idea WTAF your problem is with me, but feel free to ignore me as I have you in recent months.

Max said absolutely nothing. In fact the media put the words "tough love" out there, Max said literally nothing except that we have a strong cultural foundation. WTF do you expect him to do or say in this instance?

He went to the races and obviously they put a camera in front of his face. If he says no comment, the media would have a field day with that. Oh the captain is refusing to speak, Melbourne captain not standing by the club's culture etc etc

You yourself called them grubs. They would leach onto anything, spoken or otherwise. Max is in a no win situation.

Yeah well I have plenty more to say but no more to add!

JUST SHUT THE FURG UP and let the footy do the talking, and you can start by BANNING the club song for any game but a Grand Final Win!

It’s not the Club song being sung that is at fault. A weird response really.

We all agree on the problems of the forward line of poor connection and some very unprofessional kicking for goal.

If we solve these it will be great to hear the Club song every week and watch a better game plan as a result.

A player in his early 30's, a supposed leader of the backline, has had a previous mishap with a well respected and professional team-mate which was clearly alcohol-fuelled, made some embarrassingly stupid comments about being a better team than the 2023 premiers (clearly influenced by how many drinks he'd had) and looks completely out of it at the races having a laugh about what he said at the bnf.

It's a [censored] look. That's my take.

No worries if you disagree!

It's a footy forum, get over yourself.

I thoroughly enjoyed his comments & at HIS B&F he is entitled to say what he felt & if you think we all have to be so politically correct… then maybe get over yourself. It’s supposed supporters like you who make such a big deal out of it.

Maybe a simple polite decline to be interviewed? Who would have thought hey slart? Half surprised you couldn't think of that all up by yourself.

We've copped enough [censored] from the media this year so we owe them nothing. Player's aren't forced to give interviews and nor should we oblige too.

Thanks Dazzle, hadn't thought of that.  No media comment on anything until we win our next flag and prove "actions speak louder than words".

Brilliant strategy. We could save on our media department as well.

Pert already scrimps in this department, with the equivalent of work experience kids handed the reins and then Pert stepping in to lend his vast experience & expertise any time a curly situation arises, i.e. arrogantly overrates his own ability and prefers underlings who are yes-people, leading to the debacle we had on SEN recently.

He’s f&$@ing around with my footy club and squandering our years of dominance set up before his time, that’s what he’s doing. I do take that personally.

What I want to see is

A No media interviews of any kind other than obligatory after match coaches post game AFL Commitment

B Any players approached for anything in the media to give a polite NO COMMENT and move on

C No more explanations  a la Pert and Goodwin on SEN

D Give the Media ABSOLUTE ZILCH win lose or draw in season 2024 ZILCH!

Well, what else is he going to relate to you (supporters) at this stage of next year's football season?

This is so out of touch with reality.

The CBA requires players to be available. Sponsorship requires players and coaches to be available. Media rights require players to be available.

We are always going to have players commenting in the media. Your suggestions here are never going to happen, nor should they.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
