According to Cal T. :

”Unless Roos come with a last huge offer, Eagles set to hold at 1. Could dangle a future first if Dan Curtin is still on the board”.

Wonder if he is talking about the Dees.

WC could offer their F1 progressively to Hawthorn, the Dogs, MFC, GWS, Geelong until Curtin is taken. It will become progressively more attractive.

The stupidest justification for selecting a player, yet it just keeps popping up...

It is not the justification, as no one would take a dud in the hope you could swap him.

Curtin was suggested to be as good as  Reid by some pundits.

It’s more an insurance bonus if homesickness leads him to want to return to WA.

If he is available at our pick I would think we probably take him and swapping him later with Reid would not enter into the drafting discussion.

The Eagles will offer it for every spot that Curtin is available, but I’m not convinced we take it. Especially not straight up.

That said, if there’s no one left that we rate in the elite crop we have a choice to make between:

1. Moving back the prized part of the Jackson trade back one year further

2. Taking Curtin who seems to be increasing his flight risk level to a fairly high level, which means he could be gone inside 3 years. Could all be rubbish, but the player manager played his cards strongly.

Im always of the belief you draft interstate talent unless you think it’s inevitable. Curtin could be flirting with it. Only those with inside knowledge would know.

I’m hoping JT and Co have someone else in the top bracket they want instead and take the pick.

We don't want another sook.

Eagles …

are you saying give us pick 6 (7) for

Your pick 23 this years draft AND your future 1st round pick 2024 draft

keep talking .

I would take the future 1st in order to get a ready made like the May

Lever trades. Who is likely in our sights?

Curtin’s manager said he has talked to the Dees, and that they said they would take him at 6, if he’s still there.

Skip ahead to about 10.30 in.

West coasts future 1st round + our future first =

Target player next  year

Melbourne #6 -> North

North #2 #6 -> West Coast (= Curtain & satisfies their want for 2 top 10 picks)

West Coast #1 -> North (= Reid)

North & West Coast Future First Rounds -> Melbourne

Would you?

That's potentially pick 1 and 2 in next year's draft. You'd have to look at it

How do we get WCE's future 1st?

Errrrrm… hopes and dreams? 🤦‍♂️ looks like I missed a crucial step!!

WC 2024 first rounder is 95% to be either pick 1 or 2. most likely 1.

Suns, Freo, Hawks, bombers will all improve

I wonder if we consider trading to North for their 2023 p15 and 2024 1st?  Cal has Darcy Wilson going to North with this selection.

is Wilson + Norths 2024 1st > that Windsor?

You may well turn out to be right. The wildcard is what Free Agency compo picks get dealt out by AFL House.
