Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Generally just a blood test now. So easy. I think a lot of men were put off by the traditional test. As for the bowel cancer test they send out. Finally got around to it. So easy !

You owe it to not only yourself but your loved ones.

Do it NOW.

Don't think, DO.

My Bro was diagnosed at 43! unfortunately he went to liver cancer, a secondary of bowel cancer 6 months later.  A terrible way for me to learn to keep on top of your Men's Health guys.

So sorry to hear about your brother, SL. But something good came from it… you know the benefits of getting tested. 💖

Well said, Bystander. And you’re spot on: people need to think of their loved ones. Take it from someone who knows… I had no family history of any type of cancer, I had no lumps or symptoms, I just had a routine mammogram because it was free and I was with a friend who was having one. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Receiving that news was devastating. But that was nothing - absolutely NOTHING compared to having to tell my sons. That was as brutal as it gets. My youngest was only 10yo. The look on his little face still haunts me and is something I’ll take to my grave.

I’d go one further and say people who don’t make a point of getting tested are selfish, because if they were putting their family first they’d avail themselves of any and every cancer screening test available.

This was the reason many cases of cervical cancer went undiagnosed… women simply avoided Pap smears because of the attendant discomfort.

But five minutes of discomfort for invaluable peace of mind is a good trade.

It’s not always selfishness, but sometimes life just gets in the way.

I was distracted by moving my son to Canberra to take up a graduate position, then applying most of my energies into spending time with my Canberra based younger brother who was suffering Aphasia which had become full blown dementia, and which eventually took him from us. Then there was the dealing with the aftermath of that and then, my son relocating back to Sydney after completing his placement.

By the time I did get around to having a colonoscopy, I was sadly too late to the party.

So sorry to hear that about your brother, the Universe can be very cruel at times. Hope you’re doing well. 💖 I understand that life gets in the way, it gets in the way of many important things. Maybe ‘selfish’ is a little harsh but sometimes harshness is needed if it means someone will look at cancer screening as something that should be pushed up on the list of priorities.

I doubt that I will agree with you on football matters but on this 100%, well done for bringing to the forefront of peoples minds but at least more men are getting tested every year.

Yep. Good advice.

I have been having regular blood tests every 6 months for many years. 18 months ago there was a significant jump in my PSA levels which is an indicator for Prostrate problems. After additional tests and a biopsy The indicators showed that the cancer was a vey aggressive type of cancer.

Had all the offending bits removed as that was the recommendation of the surgeon.

1 months down the track from the op and all is clear and trending the right way.

the regular tests meant that I got it early.

Get tested!

Great advice. If only they had a detection test for Ovarian Cancer, lost my mother in law in June to the silent killer (she only lasted 4 weeks from diagnosis) and have started fundraising to hopefully raise awareness/funds for the test (I won't share my fundraising link as it probably breaches posting guidelines and I don't contribute much here, although I visit daily for a read).

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
