Reasonable points.

I agree petty has every right to play where he wants to play - and for whatever reason he likes.

It's a business and clubs will cut players - or not play them - when it suits them. Just look at the Billings situation. Forced out because the saints weren't gonna play him. Or ask Deakyn Smith about loyalty.

But personally I dislike he chose to use the media to make his case and put undue pressure on the club.

And choosing to play a round of golf with players from a club you are agitating to get to, regardless if they are old mates or not, BEFORE the trade period ended was very poor form.

I mean c'mon if he was gagging for a game of golf with fogerty et al he could have waited 'till this morning.ย

And making sure the SA media know ahead of time and are there to report on it and do a door stop interview? Please.

If anyone thinks he and his manager didn't orchestrate that circus they areย  kidding themselves.

It was particularly galling given petty does stuff all media or promotional work for the dees.

Again, his call and he can do what he wants. As i said Its a business for players, clubs and managers.

But it's not a business for fans, its a passion.

And when a player jerks around the club they should understand it will upset and hurt fans.

I would understand if he had an axe to grind and felt he was being treated unfairly. But by his own admission he doesn't and hasn't been.

Have your conversations about wanting to be traded internally and show some respect to your current employer who has given you your shot at AFL footy - not to mention strongly supported you through the zorko drama and helped you be a premiership player.ย

And show some respect to dees fans who at the end of the day are the reason he is able to be paid handsomely to live out his dream.

I'd be more forgiving if he was a kid. For that reason I cut Horne Francis plenty of slack.ย

But petty is a grown [censored] adult for petts sake.ย

I may be too naive or cynical but players should question when their managers propose ideas that are unethical or counterproductive to their current employment situation.

He made it clear that he had spoken to Adelaide and they had expressed keen interest. He then said that he's staying because Melbourne didn't want to play. So do we have another Jackson. What a great season he had in 2022 - NOT! For our sake he needs to find a partner who loves Melbourne and redheads in that order.

Another era perhaps but a likely same result as Scott Thompson. Melbourne supported this player through a period when frequently injured only to go back home to Adelaide after a breakout year for us. The rest is history. He went on to play about 600 games for them.

I reckon the Crows are still salty about Lever - the way the are talking about Petty even after trade period. Their recruiting bloke was still banging on about โ€˜Petty wanting to come home at some point.โ€™

Whatever.

ย

Wait til they find out we got pick one....

Just a vibe, but I think he's gone at the end of next year. I don't think the Crows, who are on the up, will be able to offer us what they could of this year.

I'm feeling generally warmer by the day about Keays' "point".

Well he'll be gone at the end of 2025 as a FA for less.ย  He'll be traded at the end of 2024 as a pre-Agent. Bookmark it.

Itโ€™s interesting Grundy got a monster deal by telling the Pies the fact that he was a SA boy โ€ฆhe would want to go home . Fast forward a couple of years at the Pies he gets dropped to the twos & traded to us. He gets offers of 1st ruck at PA & Sydney. He goes to Syd further away from SA. Situations can always change !!ย

This thread is so hard on him for some unguarded comments in an unplanned interview. In which he said he was staying at Melbourne. He was on the golf course!! He is a young bloke and not someone who is regularly interviewed. He said he is staying and I believe he meant it.

ย Give him a break. Let's just hope he comes out fit and firing and adds the final piece to our forward line!

An unplanned interview! So Ch9 just has camera crews hanging round Adelaide golf courses to interview random golfers?

It was a setup to put pressure on the Dees.

Still Harry stays a Dee until end of 2025 season unless the trade assets Adelaide offer at end of 2024 can be used to secure a quality replacement key forward.

Pleased to see a groundswell of backing the young bloke has emerged. Those members of the geek chorus who seem too ready to shout half-arsed ill informed inanities from behind the mask of an anonymous facade. Come across like a bunch of third form boys still in shorts.ย

I have no idea how channel 9 came to be there but a guess would be: someone saw them all, recognised them, and notified the media, probably earning a dollar in the process.ย

Do you have any better info?

I suspect I am part of that groundswell. The thing is: I support Melbourne and its players. I have no desire to bring them down, abuse them, or to make ill-founded allegations.

Homesickness is a form of Adjustment Disorder which is indeed a mental health condition. Anyways, the point is: these players, while wanting to go home, are NOT experiencing homesickness.ย

Thank you WCW, you are right on the money! Adjustment Disorder is VERY real!

No chook Adjsutment Disorder occurs when your natural place that you feel an empathy with and are warm and comforatble and valued are taken away from you. I dont think this is Harrisons case at the Dees. Quite the opposite I would imagine!

It's like there's a contest to see who can be the most miserable git on here. Thanks for your entry Clint

Well, I'd probably agree that if you were on an AFL list for a minimum of 12 months and then wanting to go home because of homesickness then it's probably not the mild form.ย

We'll see what happens, bad morale can rip through a footy club so hopefully he's professional and gives his best each week. The way things are going I'll probably get lashed for having the nerve to make that point but I'm past the point of caring about what happens around here.ย

Drugs is worse Jaded and a stain that never goes away, I can only hope no other players have taken that [censored].

Just ask West Coast or Bombers supporters.

Worse than a camp where players reported downright racism? Worse than a captain yelling racist comments? Really?ย

Recreational drug use is rife in AFL and basically any high paying industry. You think no Adelaide player touches the stuff? Come on!

Who was that bloke from the swans who 10yrs ago declared half the comp was doin' coke and got shut down by the AFL.
Dale Lewis?

Yes I know it's used elsewhere but two wrongs don't make a right either.

I just have a real beef with drugs as my sister is a paramedic and the treatment medicos receive from Drug addicts is beyond comprehending.

Of course it doesnโ€™t make it right and I am not supporting nor condoning drug use.ย
But to suggest Petty wants out because some of our players are doing drugs is ridiculous, when he would know full well that some Adelaide players would be too.ย

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
