Tomorrow we should think very carefully.
if Petty has checked out, we should Cash in.
it depends what The Croms are prepared to cough up.

Nope. Plenty can change in a year, and even more can change in two years.

Didn’t sound too convincing.

If Petty is considering…….

Get 2 top tens picks, or 1 and Fogerty/Thilthorpe.

They virtually got that for Lever.

And ask Taylor Walker for his opinion if it goes through 😝

Think Melb have their work cut out if they want him to be a long-term player and sign an extension. Would make a lot of sense to try and maximise our returns now and give us a chance at Reid. Trouble is we badly need Petty, as we saw last year.

It's pretty clear that his family is important to him. I think he'll be professional about it in terms of playing, but in the longer term it seems pretty clear that Adelaide (city) is where his heart is.

It’s a Gamble…

@binman - i think you'll find that jonno brown was 100% regarded as the best player in his draft

the bears got him as a father-son gift cos his dad played 51 games with fitzroy; i believe it was part of the reason it was extended to 100 games from 50

Not really, we still hold the cards next year and I’m not convinced that what Adelaide can offer would get us near Reid.

I was just thinking tonight that I was going to miss the Freo death ride, maybe we have another one for 2024!

His Sister lives in Adelaide, but his parents are a 6 hour plus drive, nonetheless, there's obviously a strong lure to Adelaide.

But I wouldn't cave, because he can help us win a flag next year.  And a lot can change in 12 months.

I don't buy into the narrative that his head won't be in the game in 2024.  Pride of performance and the right environment ensures that.

As for Harley Reid ?  I think we're still a real chance with the hand we hold.  There are growing views that Curtin will be available at pick 6.  North love McKercher and are also said to be keen on Duursma and I think they're the most likely to take Curtin.

If WC are convinced Curtin will be available at pick 6, and if they rate him close to Reid as a potential pick 1, they may well be prepared to trade pick one to get another WA player like Hardeman (or whoever) with pick 11 (plus our F1).

If they keep pick one their next pick will be close to 30.  As good as Reid is they'll worry about the flight risk and one gun kid isn't a lot for finishing last.

Worst case we pick Curtin with 6 (or maybe Sanders), as he looks like he's going to be a gun.

If Harry wants to go home, is he going to be 100% committed?

We saw Luke Jackson taper off, I don’t want that situation again.

He wants to go home

But yes it also depends what Adelaide are prepared to offer

Adelaide aren't going to be in a better position draft wise this time next year.

They will most likely play finals which means their first round pick drops down to the mid teens and may be used on their future father son in Welsh who looks like a bona fide early first round pick.

That seems like he was pretty down about sticking at the Dees and it wasn’t his call.
He is a great player but we should absolutely trade him now if he doesn’t want to be here. We will have an entire year of speculation if we don’t trade him, we have seen how speculation can derail a season with Dogga.
Get 10 and 14 for him.

A very disappointing interview and demeanor

All these grown man being home sick is truly mind boggling.

Anyways we are right in the frame to win a flag next year so stay put, play well, win us a flag then we can chat again.

Planets just had to align, game of golf, nine news there. How convenient. Crows trying to squeeze much!?

Evident he wants to return to Adelaide.

As he stated, the decision has been made (tow the company line), Happy to play at Melbourne next year.

Definitely will get tongues wagging again tomorrow before deadline. But I expect nothing to change tomorrow. Because… “the decision has been made”

It won’t stop the Crows from a last ditch bid.

Agree with all this.

I reckon we're gonna get Reid. Bookmark is out and ready.

Yes, dazzle, another lesson on Media 'truth'. A little editing tweak here and there can create a different perspective altogether!
