I've spent the last 3 days seeing some pretty horrific things, but this just about tops it.

Next year will be his 18th season.

He has kicked more than 60 goals 4 times. (only twice in the past 9 years)

He would want $750k for a one year contract

Pass from me, He's not the messiah

He’s kicked over 60 goals five times two of which have been in the last three years. He’s not going to leave Geelong so doesn’t really matter.

In all honesty if he was open to coming to Melbourne, which I’m 99% certain he isn’t, it would be a good get for us. We need to go all in before Gawn and May are done. Hawkins will give us the focal point up forward that we’ve been crying out for since 2022.

At the very least, he’d be a good stepladder for JVR and Petty to jump onto. Maybe even strap padding to his back inside the jumper

Hawk’s a mate of mine. Sadly he’s just re-signed with Geelong this morning.

Would’ve been a brilliant get for a couple of twilight seasons. He and his family are moving into their Melbourne pad next year as they’ll be doing renos on their place at Gnarwarre, so logistically would’ve been perfect.

Can confirm he was getting fairly frustrated at Geelong and if they hadn’t come to the party, he’d have been at Melbourne next year. Club was lurking in the background interested.

So you'd be in your mid-thirties and enjoy the rural lifestyle...

Not questioning your intel but this tweet was 2 mins ago

But the article says "Melbourne made an 11th hour bid to prise champion spearhead Tom Hawkins out of Geelong.

But the Herald Sun understands there is no threat of Hawkins leaving the Cattery after 17 seasons, with the final details of his contract to stay at Geelong being thrashed out."

I don't think he will leave the Cats.

Mate as in Mate or Mate of a Mate?

Would you swap Tom’s for same salary and give Hawkins one more year, in which he could fade out possibly in second year to assistant coaching and mentoring our young key forwards?

Like him or not he would be great teaching JVR, Jefferson, Fullerton and even Petty.

Won’t happen as he won’t leave Cats.

Looks likes he trimmed 10 kilos off!

Yeh that's my body

Why does an uncontracted 36 year old (surely a free agent) attract a draft pick.

$750k... you have to be kidding.. $450 plus incentives taking it to $600k for a 40 goal year

I love it

get 3 walking frames and ramps put in at Casey fields. If BBB and Tmcd went, then you could ramp up interest in Hawkins but I’m not buying right now.

Make that 4 walking frames, my Dad would be throwing his over the fence in protest.

Mate as in groomsmen at each other’s weddings.

No idea when it’ll be announced but can confirm with 100% certainty, straight from the horses mouth, that he’s staying at Geelong.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
