If my quick maths is correct, 4th quarters are 125 points for and 4 points against, the last 3 rounds the opposition in fact hasn't scored a point in the 4th. Incredible.

What most commentators have missed about this last quarter stat is the incredible discipline, concentration and ruthlessness this team displays.

It's not just fitness. It's complete mental toughness.

So many teams take their foot off the gas once they've sealed the win.

Not this team.

They are just something else. I've never seen a footy team push so hard right to the end.

In any comp at any level.

Stinnear and his team have created something quite amazing.

I love the way they just swing changes and it just works.

We can't ever let this bloke go. He can teach the men's team lots!

Such an exciting time for this club. I hope more supporters get on this train.

I've been waiting for us to play Geelong in Geelong since Geelong came into the competetion.  Casey may as well be on the other side of the planet from here. I'll be there with my three girls, hoping for another impressive display.

Worth the wait, Viper!

Fly the flag over there, you and especially the girls!

Finally! A night at Mordor where I didn’t die a little on the inside.

Great to see so many shots of the Dee Army tonight WCW. Great effort

Magnificent team who play for each other.  No show ponies, just damn good players, who always do the team thing! Love their run and carry and their cohesion.

Very good win by a very professional team.

Our ability forward of the ball is what sets us apart and our trust in team mates to not just hack the ball forward but hold onto it and carry it with handballs. Lots of teams have good midfielders but so much of it is quick dump kicks that are easy to defend. We have dynamic forwards and power runners that allow us to create space forward of the play and use it to score.

That’s why we do so well late in games because we expose any drop off in running by carrying the ball forward and forcing them to defend in space. It’s especially effective in AFLW because a long kick isn’t as effective an alternative. It’s the old saying that your reward for running hard early in the game doesn’t come until late in the game.

Tonight’s result-

Kate Hore 4.2.26

def.

Geelong 4.1.25

Mind boggling.

We are not talking u12's country football here.  This is AFLW, the highest level possible.

Over a year since a goal kicked against us in a 4th quarter and we are scoring at nearly double the rate this year.

We are truly seeing a freakishly brilliant football team and coach that I hope all MFC supporters appreciate.

Wow!

Shout out to Eden Zanker - worked so hard all night, repeatedly brought the ball to ground even when she was outnumbered or out-positioned, and kept scrambling for second and third efforts when it was on the ground, tackling, chasing.

It was a huge effort to help fill the absence of Tayla.

She seemed to lack the confidence in marking contests and shots at goal two years back. She's absolutely flying now.

Great game.

Minor point: forgot the ♾️% for the last 3 weeks.

Can I just say how enjoyable it was to come home from work put on this match, didn't have to hear about collingwood and the GF, watch us beat geelong in geelong and hear our song.

Also kudos to Kate Hore who has stepped into the capatins role beautifully and is leading this team so well.

Yes i thought this as well.  Her work rate and pressure on the oppo was incredible.

She gets to so many contests when the oppo seemingly look to be in the van and neutralises or taps to advantage.

Pretty quick and athletic for her height.  VG football brain.

Always showed signs early but has imrproved a fair wack in the last 18 months.

I'd say she has to be right up there with Taylor now.

Nice to see you keeping a bit of a lid on things PD

This team is Special, with a capital S. Actually, all capitals… SPECIAL.

So unassuming and humble, not a single bighead amongst them. Post-match I said to Goldie, “You guys are killing it! 14 wins in a row, a class above everyone else in the comp!” She replied, “yeah, we’re going ok, aren’t we.”  Going ok, she says. Riiiiight  😳

And as fierce and unforgiving as they are on-field, they’re the sweetest people off-field. When you talk to them like we did post-match its hard to believe it’s the same group of girls who just got done mercilessly dismantling yet another opponent. Soooooo proud of them.

What a game! Felt like those first quarter goals were particularly telling somewhat against the flow and from there we just worked and worked our way in. And like others have mentioned, did it right til the end, no mercy.

How good was Paxy? 372m gained and that classy goal. Loved Zanker’s hard work up the ground and then all the way to goal line. Purcell with 8 clearances and West with 10 tackles. Solid return from Colvin and stingy stuff from the backs overall. A.Mackin, just imagine when she gets some games under her belt!?

In the post-match interview, Hore was focused on 4 goals – not the 4 she kicked but the 4 the Cats scored – and mentioned an emphasis in the last few weeks on team defence…before this game, Geelong was averaging 55 points for.

Shout out to Maddi Gay for 50 reliable and versatile games, both traits on show in this one.

Looked like a lively bunch of Dees fans along, including one particularly recognisable tall, bearded fellow enjoying this team as much as we do!

Pres. Kate came and sat with us for the second half. If anyone has any doubt about how invested she is in this team, watch her during a match. She’s as loud and passionate as the rest of us.

It was wonderful to see Maxy there, as well as Daisy. We were pleased to see Daisy wasn’t in her Geelong polo. We know where her heart is. ❤️💙

Great to see Macca back in everything. she is tiny but runs all day and was great in the first half

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
