Now all into luring Nick Larkey from Kangas.

With cap space created by Grundy/Harmes/Brown, will sign him on mega four-year deal worth $4M.

He’s already signed a million a year 7 year deal with North recently. He can’t tear that up for an inferior contract. We’d have to take that contract on, which we’d gladly do if it was an option. It’s not. Larkey is staying put. Even if he suddenly wanted out after signing a huge deal recently, North wouldn’t let him walk and would demand every pick we have plus more. It’s fantasy and we need to chase realistic options.

Well said.

Not sure why there's so much talk about Larkey on here. He made noises about being a one club player and signed a huge deal with the roos just a few months ago.

These fantasy trades just aren’t going to happen. I think we are stuck with our existing list and if everyone is fit for 2024, can I just say if we can’t construct winning scores from a set up involving Petty, JVR, Fritsch, Smith, Kossie, McAdam, Chandler, ANB and Tracc, there is a serious coaching problem. Especially if with our great hand in the draft we could pull in a couple of mids who have elite kicking skills and also like to run forward and kick the odd goal.

I seem to be on my pat malone on this but the treatment of Schache this year has been one of the season's mysteries for me. He was never given a chance. He is exactly the type of player we have needed at various stages during the season but was never really given a chance. I would have at least given him a couple of decent games so he could settle in to the system a bit and see if he could deliver. He was brought on for 10 minutes as the sub a few rounds ago and then the final was an utter debacle. How could he not have been worth a try compared to T Mac. There was nothing to lose. Obviously they don't rate him but at least give the guy a go, especially in the circumstances this season. I'd hate to get treated that way by my Boss in a job and stay happy and focused.

In a contest you don’t need to shoulder him aside you just breathe heavily to knock him sideways

the reason is he weighs 94 kgs

ollie wines weighs 94 kgs! Ish

ruckmen weigh plus 100

so he has limited scope to chop out and he has shown little as a KPF even though we had pretty mint supply to the fwd line at Casey

Besides young draftees if we are serious about making a grand final in the next 2 years we need a key forward, can't rely on JVR and Petty so much, 1 more tall forward who can kick 2 goals a game and we're set. Don't know who's available but even a mature ager similar to Mihocek

Forget about BBB, Or Tmac they have given all they got.

Jaiden Hunter from Essendon worth a 2 year deal?

Kicked goals in the wafl, got drafted mid year, kicked 4 in his second game then out with a back injury.

Essendon yet to offer him a deal.

If he's not good enough for Essendon when they're already relying on Weideman, then can't see how he'd be good enough for us!

Essendon apparently will offer him a one year deal but seem to be dragging their feet. Hawthorn just waltzed in and got Massimo D’Ambrosio who I think is a beauty.

We got to try someone!

If Lynch is deemed too expensive then for me Casboult is the solid cut price alternative from that list.

He is certainly durable. Played 41 games for the Suns over the past two seasons. 60 goals (35 last year, 25 this year). Big brute of a lad, 200cm, could provide ruck relief for Gawn.

Much prefer Lynch though.

It’s a no on Chol for me. Hardwick shopping him out of two clubs says a fair bit about what he thinks of his application and attitude.

Did both clubs “shop him out” or did / does Chol not want to play under Hardwick?

So one has to wonder why the hell was he named, then never used, as sub in a cutthroat semi final when our other tall forward wasn’t delivering anything much?  Absolute mystery.

Having a look over playing lists, there’s a few that seem to have excess tall forwards.
Looking for a bargain...

StK - Cooper Sharman?

Coll - Ash Johnson?

GCS - Burgess? Chol the obvious option. McLaughlin?

Adel - Fogarty? Gollant?

WBD - O’Brien?

Port - Lord? Scully?

Haw - Ramadan?

Freo - Corbett? Treacy? Kuek?

I’d take Fogarty for the right price if he’s available. Very good set shot so improves us straight away.

Not sure he helps our groundball game and is a little undersized for a KPF.

He is a little short side.

Not sure there are many KPF who are good on the deck but he contests, marks and kicks straight. More important traits in a forward in my book.

I agree

i would have thought Grundy the better option but what would I know?

Naughton is excellent at ground level, but Fogarty is a beautiful kick.

It will have to happen with another player as Spargo is a required player and won't be released.

Not sure about that he struggled to get a senior game for a large part of this year.

He doesn’t get it often enough.

10 possessions a game he averages over 7 seasons. You need to be Cyril Rioli good to be effective with those numbers. And Cyril Rioli he 'aint. Spargo doesn't hit the scoreboard enough either.

How many would he average if our half backs ran and kicked the ball to the fat side and then to Charlie streaming open at half forward? He’d go from 10 to 15 very quickly.

I also don’t care how many goals he kicks if he lands the ball on a forwards chest inside 40 and within the corridor 2-3 times a game.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
