Apparently up for trade… could suit us as a reserve ruck

Should have been a premiership player at Geelong last year.

The ideal of the one club player is fading fast.

Ideal backup for Max if Grundy goes, at less than half the price!

Great player, aged, not required with Grundy and Gawn.

He's an ideal replacement should Max get injured, however don't we want someone who doesn't have to play ruck the whole time at Casey and stifle the development of Verrell and Farris-White? I think someone like Scott Lycett or Mitch Thorpe could suit our list development needs better as we can play them forward at Casey if needed?

Mitch Thorpe?

As in ex hawk Mitch Thorpe who's 3t years of age running around in the tassie league?

Sorry, got my ex Hawthorn players mixed up. Haha. I meant Tim O'Brien.

Tim O'Brien's is a 193cm 3rd tall defender for Western Bulldogs?

I said it in another thread that Goldstein would be good for 1 year with us. He can cover 5-10 games for Gawny if he's injured or sore and allows KFW and Verrall to get another year of development into them without having to worry about being called up prematurely. This is all based however on Grundy leaving the club which most people here think he will do. He's a solid back up ruckman with a wealth of experience that will be a third of the price of Grundy and won't stifle any development of our young rucks.

Not a bad idea as Gawn ruck cover for a year or two if Grundy goes. He’d be cheap as chips.

He did play for Hawthorn though.

Think we need a 25 year old that wants to make his mark rather than a 35 year old!

Matt Flynn is the one we could get reasonably cheaply....

Cam Pedersen mould. Kicked over 70 goals in his career to date and often played 2nd ruck at Hawthorn.

Having 4 specialist rucks on a list is too many and doesn't give the young ones the exposure at Casey they need to develop. Unless of course they plan on cutting one of Verrell or Farris-White. Then Goldstein would be perfect.

That's a big ask on a guy that's been pretty injury prone the last few years and turning 30 next year.

Wouldn't you prefer an actual ruckman that's much younger?

Sam Hayes from Port could be an option as would Matt Flynn from GWS.

Very well aware of that.

i'd go in for big goober crossley from southport. was the next big thing at gcs until his drug ban, he's only 23 but is a huge boy and would be desperate for any second chance at the level including sitting behind gawn. plus would be 25 by the time gawns body is rooted and can take over for 5-7 years himself as you can never be so sure on young ruck draftees being successes long term and regardless its hard to say either KFW or verrell will be ready in 2 years at 21, not many no1 rucks are

We could use him like Mumford at GWS where he doesn't beed to play much VFL and might play up to half a dozen games in the AFL side.

Thoughts on Jordon Sweet? May decide waiting 1-2 years behind Max is better than 2nd fiddle to English indefinitely.

Ned Moyle is the other one I like but doubt Gold Coast will give him up.
