Any win over C’wood is delicious, but there are no words to describe how I will feel when we win this.  Dees by 20, and going away.

Friends nuts and romanrymen, lend me your ears

What a cracking start to the day on the northern rivers

Sadly I shall be absent until our presence in the GF but in honour of today, one took the opportunity for a 10k romp in the hinterland ‘tween Bangalow and Lismore wearing one’s Dees jumper. A relatively crisp 17C as a prelude to a lovely 26C which no doubt wil finish with some mowing, quick dip in the pool before the game.

I’m wearing the number 13 in to work at Lismore Hospital which has been greeted by some quizzical looks. 🤷

One wishes us all luck. And please yell for those of us who can’t be there!
❤️💙

PS mayhaps a sneaky $10 on Trac for the Gary Ayres medal?

Here in Somalia it’s midnight, game starts bang smack in the middle of the day, presenting a conundrum as have been trying to lead by example here, and the boss getting on the beers at lunch is not a good look. Fortunately DSTV (ZA cable channel) is showing the game live so I might have a stomach ailment and move to the guest house for a conference call.

What do you do for work that takes you there, out of interest?

Changes are good.

I was one of the first on the third tall defender island for much of the year but Hibberd in for Collingwood makes sense.

If he plays well and we do need a tall third defender the following week then suddenly there is added pressure on Salem and Bowey.

McDonald makes sense as he can ruck which keeps JVR fresh, hopefully he can stay fit.

I slept like a baby last night.

Maxy, Trac, Viney and Clarry to lead the way.

Fritsch to kick 6 goals

Dees by 25 points

This one means more. The old enemy, an arch nemesis. A rivalry so historical that Ken Mitchell wrote a book about it here

We must win tonight, the chips have been moved fairly and squarely to the middle of the table and we are all in. There are a range of least favourite teams here on Demonland but for as long as I can remember there is something that has set this mob apart from the rest and by the length of the Hume Highway.

My father is a Collingwood fan. I bucked this trend simply because my best friend at Kindergarten was a Melbourne fan so that sealed my fate. The first time he took me to a Melb v Collingwood game I learned very quickly what this experience was going to be for the rest of my footy going life, walking up Clarendon St seeing 5 Collingwood fans to every 2 Melbourne fans was a clear message that you were in the minority and that you would need to be very strong taking this life path (mentally and physically).

The pulse never gets racing for me in any game quite like this one. I’ve seen it all, scuffles between fans, filthy and vile language in the outer etc. One year for QB when they were smashing us and some Melb fans were leaving I saw a Pies fan say to one of them “Off you go Melbourne” and hock a big loogie onto his pants. Make no mistake I’ve never seen quite as much gutter behaviour from opposition fans as much as them and that includes Richmond and there’s no other game where I feel I have to have my wits about myself around their fans.

There were great times too. Farmer’s Cloud 9 day, Wattsy’s winner, doing the double on them in Roosey’s last season. The lows are low but the highs are as sweet as it gets.

From about Round 20 it looked like this would be the game and even from then I felt there would be no game that would shape the finals series like this one. Still waiting for the citation from Joey Montagna on that one 😝 but it doesn’t take a genius to know that these are two of the best teams and would make a great Grand Final. If the finals are a chess game then the winner of tonight takes the queen.

Of course no-one has a devine right to win anything and from the other side of the fence the Pies want to avenge that 1 point loss in Sydney last year. We need to want it more and that’s what I want to see tonight. We get bogged down in tactics but tactics can sometimes go out the window in finals. Allan Jeans said that as far as strategy and tactics go in finals in always comes down to winning the footy, executing correctly under pressure and when you haven’t got the ball, working extra hard to put that pressure on. Lastly to add to all that, we must have the desire. As I said before these Pies players will want it bad after last year, we need to match or beat their desire. What will it mean to win and give ourselves the best chance this year? What would a potential grand final on the G mean and most importantly, what would it mean for these guys’ legacy? You’re in rare territory of having the chance to repeat a major achievement, most people never get the chance for 1. At this point I don’t really care what side has been selected, as long as every one of these 22 +1 players gives 110%.

Let’s revise the book on this rivalry and pump it up with some air again. Let’s also remind everyone that we are the ones that beat them when it counts. It’s in our blood. Come on Dees, go out there and give em hell!

I will tell you right now, i said earlier in the week to wait for the weather forecast 1 to 2 days out to get a better gauge.

Little old Adelaide has copped 21 mm in 3 hours from 6am, this was the amount everyone was afraid of going into the game, obviously going to miss Melbourne.

Don't want to shove betting down anyones throat but the swing in the odds today has been dramatic, we are now clear favs tonight on most platforms. Myself I liked being the underdog for a change.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
