The big one is Grundy’s contract, which was Jackson’s contract, which could/should become a key forwards contract.

It's a no brainer IMV and yeah, I'd shift Grundy's wage to Lynch.

He is the type of player that would make sense to move. However the forward line with Riewoldt retiring will be bordering uncompetitive if he wasnt there. 

Richmond are on a slippery slope atm as they transition into a more rebuilding phase. They lack current picks this year so they could surely float some players on the open market to get some picks in the door. 

Any one of Liam Baker, Jayden Short, Shai Bolton i'd have in a heart beat. The others, meh. 

Georgiades re-signed with Port.

Nick Bryan (essendon ruck), Harrison Jones and Tarryn Thomas have all re-signed for their clubs.

Edit: Thomas hasn't re-signed but has committed to seeing out his final year of his current contract in 2024

The hard truth is that we must consider putting Oliver up for trade. We need a mini rebuild and as his absence this year has proved, in one real sense, he is surplus or more to the point an abundance of a certain type of power player. He is obviously valuable and we need to fill numerous holes in our list. What is his value? It’s clear that the team lacks balance and Clarry regularly picking up 30+ mostly meaningless possessions isn’t helping our cause. We need a fair dinkum A grade forward. We need replacements for Gawn and May, Brown and Tom Mac. ANB isn’t getting any younger and expect a drop off in a couple of years. Now is the time to make difficult decisions whilst our assets have real currency.

Experienced and decent KPF is a must

The QF last night clarified our list needs for me.

We need more potency in attack. I think Petty can provide the tall capability and it's no surprise we're into McAdam who I think plays a bit like Elliott.

If possible we need to support that at the draft. A key back to fill the hole left by Petty as May's ultimate successor and more finishing class.

I can't vouch for their actuals but the descriptions of O'Sullivan and Watson look spot on to me and they should be accessible with our draft hand.

O'Sullivan looks like the best gettable KPB (assuming Curtain to WC) and he has genuine size at 198cm.

If Watson can do what he does at U18 level at AFL level despite his small size then he and Kossie operating in tandem in the forward line would be very hard to stop. Chandler is a good player but another gun is necessary to convert the difficult chances we produce.

Sure. some more midfield polish would be very nice and I think we can target that in FA over the next couple of years, they're easier to come by that KPs and great converters.

If Tom Lynch wasn't in a moonboot he'd be mighty handy.

Its been mentioned on the other thread (Stuff the draft, lets poach a KPF) that our midfield depth is now pretty much non-existent with Dunstan gone, and JJ and Harmes likely to look elsewhere for opportunities. The only mid not playing last night besides those guys was Woey who's a winger. IMO, this upcoming draft/trade period should be all about refreshing our midfield depth and succession planning to extend our premiership window. If we draft more role players and flanker types this year we're basically throwing all our chips in for a flag tilt in 2024 and then I imagine it will be a sharp decline for our team as Viney, Trac, Gus and Oliver approach their 30s. 

Draft the best available mids with our two first rounders and pray to all the deities that Kalani White and Kynan Brown turn out to be good players.

Didn’t he just sign with the Swans for four years? 

It’s very premature (I know) but what would losing Gus to retirement do to our list - I cannot even begin to fathom.

Would we get some form of compensation if this did happen? Is there any avenue for such a thing? Losing a player in his prime years, through a cowardly act of thuggery is not bad luck.

the 24 draft is super midfield heavy from early observation. levi ashcroft will obvioulsy be off limits but Vic metros starting midfield this year were all bottom agers, so whilst without a doubt i think we should target a mid this year we should also be looking at two for next year. i also believe one of harmes or jordon will stay

We have significant midfield depth issues.

When Brayshaw went down I was hoping Sparrow could stand up and provide some cover.

He was incredibly disappointing and having only 2 disposals to half time for a midfielder is simply unacceptable. Working out what exactly his role is confusing. At some stage he needs to step up and not live off just getting 12-15 disposals per game.

With Jordon, Harmes and Dunstan potentially all gone, this will now cut deep with midfield experience and depth. 

Unfortunately I don't know what's out there in terms of midfield depth. My hope is a out of the blue scenario ala Lachie Hunter.

Ridiculous overreaction on our midfield when we need forwards with skill. Also put Woew back on the ball. Look at Paddy Dow or alternatively Jade Gresham. Perhaps look at Tim Membrey to bolster our goslkickers. 

We need to be creative and also part ways with our firearm coach please.

Sparrow had a very poor half but has been good this season overall.

Petracca and Oliver are extremely durable.

Brayshaw will hopefully recover.

Neal Bullen could play midfield.

Kossie and Rivers can go inside.

Woewodin is showing a bit.

Howes could become a midfielder as he develops strength.

Kynan Brown will be a midfielder.

We should look to pick up another experienced midfielder for depth if Jordon or Harmes exit, but our draft picks should be favouring classy and quick forward types. A lot of the best midfielders in the league started their careers outside the centre square and only went in their once they developed enough strength, power and endurance.

I think we have the making a really strong front half in Petty and JVR. I'd be looking for May's replacement and an elite midfielder or 2. McAdam will be a great get I think. Hoping Woewodin and Howes can start playing senior footy

When/ if north get their pick 3 compensation for McKay, can they split it? Maybe it’s more realistic for us to target that pick and try and get Duursma before the Hawks? Offer them 5+ whatever else ? Not sure on the rules there though

Just re signed and after last night, probably his best game, he is going nowhere.

Amartey could be a chance if Grundy goes there, as they also have McDonald.

JT and TL may be totally uninterested in him of course.
