He's played 15 games.

I guess that could be a reason why he didn't make it.

A champion team over a team of champions any day.

And each will get their kudos from those whose opinions they value most.

Collingwood, Collingwood, Brisbane, Brisbane, Carlton, Carlton … the media and their shiny objects.

Did you notice the huge amount of airtime Goody got for contract extension.

They can keep shinning these teams small objects all they like... as long as we're shinning our new premiership medals at the end on the finals

Nothing would be funnier than watching us lift the premiership cup with only one player in the AA team, because lets be honest Viney won't make the final team. Gotta make room for Dusty, Stewart and De Goey.

I made a catastrophic error and foolishly made another topic about this…

But in it I said, I don’t think this list is wrong necessarily. Maybe May and Lever yes (I’d take both over Stewart but I’m probably biased), but our backline load has been shared around a fair bit I reckon. Mcvee has been awesome back there, Bowey cops a bit of flack but he wins more than he loses and is a very reliable kick out of the backline.

English and Marshall are ahead of Gawn this year I’d say. Right now, I’d take Marshall over English. I think Marshall is underrated if anything. Jackson is WELL below these two.

My point is, i don’t think we’ve had too many stand out players as we really have been playing as a team for so much of the year that it makes it hard to find too many standouts, outside of Viney, Tracc, May and Lever.

Been a great collective year in my opinion.

Viney > De Goey.

There’s not even a discussion to be had.

I honestly didn't expect Gawn to make the squad, as he had an injury interrupted season and English and especially Marshall have been wonderful this year.

However for Jackson to make it over Gawn is a pathetic call.

Buckley is a selector. De Goey is a lock.

It’s the giggle brothers most liked rather than true best in positions.  Pies are flavour of the month so get a stack.  Could easily cut 20 or so from this list.

no Bont?  Come on!  This is a joke

Surely no Bont is an oversight. Selectors dead set lost the plot

Yeah true. De Goey gets plaudits because he does ‘spectacular’ things from time to time. Viney consistently does the hard in and under work. So, not very sexy.

The Tigers never had more than 2 selected in any of their flag years. 2017 Rance and Martin, 2019 Grimes and Houli and 2020 only Martin.  The AA team is not always a good indicator of who is the best team in club land.

Obviously the 5 weeks in a row of Freo fans absolutely blasting the kid for poor efforts are well forgotten now.

YES! This is definitely the case for us. Team footy over depending on individual performances.

I’ll take it every year. Easy to stand out in a team that is doing poorly.

What a horrible squad:

Weitering, Jackson, Quaynor, and Redman should not be in anywhere near that team.  Weitering is not good enough to tie May’s shoe laces

Any defenders from the best defence in the league?

I mean come on

Hawks, Freo and Essendon with 3 players. Melbourne with 2.

Tom Stuart ahead of Lever and May?

FMD what a joke.

Best defensive team due to structure, it's easier to pick out players from teams whose whole defence is on one blokes shoulders.

Think it is fair enough. May hasn't had a bad year but fewer stand out games as last year. Max left his run too late.

Goodwin will use this as ammunition that it is all about the team and not individuals.

Personally, I hate this annual 'what about him' and the whole conspiracy against my team [censored] that goes on with supporters every year.

Melbourne are a team, not a group of individuals!

Who selects the selectors?

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players.
