Wake up to game day nerves.  I hate my MFCSS.

I hear ya Roosty. Waking up on GameDay is never pleasant. I recommend you do what I do… say a lil prayer to the footy gods as you down *two coffees and a 600ml can of Red Bull. Works every time! Yes you’ll hit a wall just as the match starts but that’s when you initiate part 2 of Operation Pumped… sugar! Lollies and lots of ‘em! Any kind will do (I personally go with Skittles and Killer Pythons).

*three coffees minimum. I’m currently waiting for my third which will be ready once Vikram, the 7/11 guy cleans the machine.

Cheers!

GO THE MIGHTY DEES!!!

Laurie has been playing well for Casey, but I am surprised we picked him for this game.

Maybe we want to give him a chance to see if he stays or goes, maybe we wanted someone with good foot skills, or maybe we just wanted something a bit different, to see if it gives us a spark.

In other words I haven’t got a clue.

Fair enough. Thanks.  We may know by tonight

Gates open earlier than usual today (midday) because the Field Of Women takes place starting at 12:45. Y’all look out for me… I’ll be the one wearing pink. 🤣

Are/were you an élite athlete? That’s a pretty impressive and strict diet regime.

We'll win comfortably.

God I hope so.

We just need to maintain our defensive structures reasonably well, and win more than our share of contests (just like we have for every other game this season except vs Essendon in Adelaide), and we beat the Hawks by 20 to 30 points.
Simple, but why the Hell am I so nervous?

Come on boys, get it done 🔴🔵

🤞🏻for a big crowd for Max 200 and Nibs 150.

Taking the dog for a walk always calms the nerves.

Win today and the double chance is ours and we are up to our eyeballs in this premiership race.

Mitchell is showing all the signs of being a very astute coach, and this will not be an easy game. But I see a very tight first half, Dees slip ahead in the 3rd quarter, then continue the increase in the 4th quarter to win by 25 - 30 points.

Our full ground defensive set up will thwart their running midfield, and our mid sized and small forwards will be too much for their defence.

And we MUST NOT let Sicily play his won game. Smith to play on him, make him accountable in the air and on the ground.

Elite? The MOST elite! Those players have it easy compared to us. We make them look like they’re  having a relaxing stroll in the park.

The dog’s biased. He’s a hardcore Dees fan.

I came to Thailand for spiritual enlightenment and I must say my stay in Bangkok has been wonderfully ..... err .... uplifting.

I have consulted my guru ( not Bob ) and I have been assured that the Demons will win today's encounter with the Dorks by 46 points.

You know it 😂

Last home H&A game of the year so bringing the kids and cousins along to this one. Everyone excited.

Sunny and benign conditions expected so looking forward to clean, sharp ball movement. No fumbles please. Goal kicking accuracy would be great as well.

He's in the hunt for coaches' award and Brownlow so I expect a big one from Trac. 30 possies and a 3 goal haul.

Too late. That ship’s sailed. I peaked at 6am. I’ll be fine for the match though, when I’ll get my 48th wind.

Laurie - last chance before the real stuff

Even with 20/75 vision the dog could see THE BALL WASN’T TOUCHED!

If you don’t turn up today and choose to watch on tv instead (and you’re in Melbourne obviously), then shame on you. Final home game of the year. In the race for top 4. Captain Max playing his 200th. Weather is mild.
Don’t be the sort of Melbourne supporter everyone laughs about. Turn up, make noise, and let’s bury those Hawks!

Memories of our start against North Melbourne, gets me worried.

They want to be up for some contest and tackles. Good chance of a finals like start, with some applied pressure, I reckon.

Cmon Dees, give us commitment and wanting it for 4 quarters, I would hate us to be choosing when to go.

I want to see Tommo cement a spot.

Clarry to boom.

Small forwards to have a day out.

Marks and clean footy, to win it for us, together with forcing turnovers.

Go Dees

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
