Thought Jordon had a rough run in & out of the side BUT you can't dispute that he had plateaued.  Wish him luck but not devo at this announcement.

Meh, another draft pick to add to our war chest. JJ had some games where I thought wow he's playing well today, and others where I had to double check if he was selected. Not the type of player we'd over value and be desperate to keep, right call by both parties.

Depends on the contract he is leaving on. Could be for no return.

Good player. played 65 games in 3 years (51 games if you don't count sub as games)

Probably the most unlucky player ever. Played 25 games in his first season in 2021 but did not play in the GF.  Just brutal

Wish him all the best

He won't be going on big coin. I reckon we'll get roughly what we drafted him at.  end of second round seems fair

I can see us on-trading that for McAdam.

He has a premiership medal for being the sub in the GF.

He may not have got on the ground but it could have been far worse (see, eg, McStay, Adams and Noble this year, or Rich and Gardiner/Payne for Brisbane).

I agree. It's not like we've got fantastic midfield depth. He was constantly sub this year, which would make it difficult to get consistency of performance. And yet most on here expected JJ to come into a final and perform at a high level.

Like Bedford, I can see JJ performing well at a new club.

If he doesn’t go on big coin there’s every chance we don’t get anything.

Only 22 so has plenty of upside just needs to be played on the ball more that’s always where he looks best. Not sure the swans will be any easier to break into than dees. Might have been better off going to a weaker team like wc or north where he could cement a spot

Unfortunately for JJ, he was stuck in and couldn’t work his way out of the bottom 6 players getting chosen, the ones we need to improve upon to go deeper in finals. He has virtually no weapons in his repertoire and is a meat and potatoes footballer (not a bad thing, just not what we need).

Good luck to him 👍

Pardon?

Given he’s a free agent, we only get a pick if the AFL gives it to us, and one of the key considerations appears to be the terms of the new contract. So if he’s not on big bucks in the new deal at Sydney, we may not get any compensation, bearing in mind he was clearly a fringe player for us.

Fascinating.  Has the AFL never not given compensation for a required player?

Solid citizen. Wish him nothing but the best.

He's a best 25 player for us and got squeezed out. It happens. I would be surprised if he goes to another level at Sydney but will be delighted for him if he does.

I don't see any difference between McStay or Jordon's situation. Neither played in a GF. One just got a medal for some bizarre reason

there was interest from several clubs so you'd imagine he'll get a 3-4 year deal on >400K

any idea what comp that would result in?

If he is leaving for more midfield minutes I am not sure the Swans are the best choice

Mills, Warner, Gulden, Parker (still only 30), Heeney

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
