We’re into our 6th ‘Grand old Flag’ on the train home. It’s packed.

Song stops, it’s quiet(ish) after 10 seconds of cheering, then all of a sudden………....Iiiiiiiiittttttttt’ssssss a………….

Make that our 10th verse and for some reason no one is hopping off the train 🤪

The age of miracles is upon us! Like all Goody's critics I am absolutely delighted to eat humble pie. I never thought they could do it.

Melksham literally our matchwinner with that great mark and ice-cool finish. Petracca, Gawn and Viney led the way, and Joel Smith was a big improvement on Petty, who looked out of sorts almost from the start. Puzzling how nearly-fit Oliver gets ruled out but clearly unfit Petty gets a start.

But all credit to Goodwin and the players. Goody cops it whenever we lose so he deserves to share the praise for that amazing turnaround too.

FMD - just heard the call by sen in the last 30 seconds.

Whately:

'Melbourne rescue their season"

Rescue?

The footy media is pathetic

When the siren went I automatically looked at Goody's reaction & he and the players the bench were all in a group hug then goody ran out and hugged everyone.

You can't deny the players just love him as a coach.

By the way kudos to Joel Smith. Took some crucial marks and looked good down back

Been saying it forever some of you so called supporters are a disgrace and need to have a good look at yourself

Maxy take a bow

Trac likewise

Melk good defensive forward effort

Boys showed a lot of courage tonight

Took the game on and yes at times they got burned on the rebound but it is a coaching (yes coached) directive we really stood up in the last quarter thought we may have blown it with those early last quarter misses, but a fantastic win

Man o man! That was feckin awesome.

Love feckin with Brisbane's minds!

Persistence and refusal to give it away.

Some highlights. Some of one on one contests by Rivers, Smith and Mc Vee.

Max back to dominating best.

Jake the snake. The left foot snap and that mark.

Viney's goal. Sheer will power. Viney full stop.

Kozzie lookin dangerous again.

Hated: May's game. Spargo's game and Langdon's game. Hunter wasn't great either.

that is one of the biggest chokes i can recall

4 goals up, 15 minutes into the last Q

There's a thread about media bias.

Could care less about media bias.

But the ridiculous bias against us by some posters, who supposedly 'support' the dees, and just parrot the medias weekly talking points, does my head in.

I don't think Whateley was far wrong. Defeat tonight would have been a big psychological blow and could have left us in a potential logjam of teams battling to make finals.

As soon as I get home I’ll be watching the last quarter on kayo.

still pumped

Only 39k but at the ground the dees fans were brilliant and super loud in the last quarter.

I have zero doubt it was a big factor.

Good work dees fans.

Chocco said he thought it was the first time the crowd noise got us over the line.

I'm sure it's been said numerous times all ready, but "HOW [censored] GOOD IS JAKE MELKSHAM!!!"

Love this bloke.  He certainly had his moments tonight - both bad and VERY VERY good ones, but overall, I love the way he attacked the contest and took on the game by foot.

Not gone yet Jakey boy.  ❤💙💙💙

I am stunned. Absolutely stunned. I hope that comeback is the start for the rest of the season. Reminded me of Geelong in 21.

Exactly

Geelong 21 Had the same emotion

Amazing

Rescue our season? Give me a spell.

If we lost we still would have been 4th at the end of the round, with a soft run home.

The media's addiction to drama is mind numbing.

The same sen crew were talking about Grundy getting traded at seasons end such was hysteria over Grundy being omnited.

Manufactured drama.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
