Viney....just be Viney.... maul a Lion or two ( or three..or four )

Literally no excuses not to turn up tonight. No rain predicted, just bring a beanie for the wind factor.

First home game at the G in a long time, top 4 could be a done deal if we win, second game for Woey Jnr.

Just bloody get to the game FFS!!!!

I don't want a slow start. Gee them up, Mark and Co.

Great point.

I reckon we'll know 10 mins in where we are at. If we are moving it quick we will def look to score quickly and put the lions on the back foot from the get go.

When on, we really look to put score board pressure.

A point of discussion the dees have over our key rivals is our ability to make it hard for the opposition to score AND pile on goals quickly.

That's a big reason why are always in games.

I realise our key defenders may switch from player to player, but I would have thought May would start on Daniher with Petty taking Hipwood. It will be interesting to watch the defensive match-ups, particularly when Gunston is on the field at the same time as Daniher and Hipwood.

As anyone in Melbourne knows, it's been blowing a gale all day. I know the MCG is reasonably protected from the wind, but if this keeps up, it may be a very messy game.

I can just see May moving around within the defence more... Possibly Petty to play on Joe as a shut down..

Nothing more than my thoughts..

Agree with this 100% Bin !

As I alluded to earlier, I would love BBB to put one on the board in the first few minutes to take the defensive focus from JVR.

A change in a pressure system looks like it will pass over Melbourne soon. I can see some blue sky.

The gusty winds may abate.

Tonight would also be the perfect time for @picket fence 's favourite player - "Spargypants" - to bob up and snag 2 or 3!

Wouldn't that cause a complete meltdown in Casa di Picket!

Either Dunstan or Smith as sub tonight I suspect. Presuming the latter given Smith sat out the Casey game on Sunday and Dunstan played the entire game.

Smith is my guess. If heaven forbid Gawn is injured, we will need to send JVR into the ruck so Smith will replace him up forward.

My thinking exactly. (Although it wouldn't surprise me if Smith was asked to ruck to enable JvR to continue as a forward with some relief rucking.)

I hope everyone who complains about our crowds is a) going and b) going to make a heap of noise!! Even, and especially, when we're struggling!!

Mindset required by our players ‘we are the hunters’

Mindset required by our supporters ‘be very loud’

Not only a home ground advantage but a home crowd advantage - time to start cranking it up

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
