Tmac (running and kicking), K.Turner in boots, must be closer, are only two in rehab.

Plenty of noise as they get into their full field drills. They started with the fundamentals being loose, but have worked well into building up the standards.

Clarry running hard.

I can't see Hibbo, (I've had that problem before).

Two station drills, both start with stoppages and competition.

Two groups in the central bounce area, forcing turnovers, then delivering into the forward set up, after they go the second group then delivers. Makes the forwards look for the second quick entry. Stafford down in with them, and is having discussions of what he wants to see.

The other station is much simpler. Two separate groups near the wings 50 arc, with handball competition then go for goal with a spread after the whistle.

Williams takes the next drill after some instructions, they head to to goal area. Ground ball gets from, up, low, and pressure, snaps. The energy is high as they move to set shots they rotated through the 4 different stations, then back to the snaps again, and then more sets.

The clubs administrators have gathered in numbers. It is a sea of red and blue at the shed.

Pert and Richardson did the talking. Presentations and awards to the admin was the purpose.

They finish up with some sprints (not extensive) and some laps.

Thanks Kev. Always appreciate your efforts...to go, and to report. Cheers.

I am dead curious what this foward drill/setup is.

Now some may think that's a purely dismissive/derogatory enquiry..  But I'm genuinely interested.  Is there something we actually train?..   only to not happen ?

We do actually have pattern drills ??

Thanks again Kev 👍

There were 6 players, 3 on 3. At first the delivery was over the back, then they did lateral leads and finished with straight leads. Perhaps the two balls coming in was meant to create repeated movements.

Most of the things they do on the track appear to have some purpose.

Clarry and Bowey last out the track having a kick to kick.

Appears to be carrying his leg a little (Clarry), though lots of them have the funny kind of gait.

Petty was hanging out with the backline men.

Out of further interest... were there particular players delivering to those leads ?

Because of the rotations through the stations, they all had a chance to hit "it". The forward set up remained the same for both sets of groups.

Would that suggest BBB is on his way back in and the Petty up forward experiment is dead in the water?

BBB was training well within the group, did everything. He previously had his own program.

My guess, Petty would be primarily back, though will be used as a swing man.

Did you see them loading? :)

No obvious signs of loading, when running they were not being pushed too hard or long. The session seemed to be more about clearance at stoppages, and goal kicking.

Thanks Kev and all posters sounds like the troops are in better spirits than the rest of us, injury wise we are now in a great place although JV is a concern. Hopefully training at Casey on Wednesday won’t be to torrid as the trip to and from Alice is a bit of an effort.

Do you mean more than other interstate trips? If so, in what way? For example, is it not a direct flight?

Petty was very good up forward in his last match before injury. We will definitely see him there again at some stage.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
